VW CC - Worst Loaner Ever

Over the years I've been having my MB serviced, I've driven just about every loaner the dealer has. I'm currently driving a 2011 VW cc, (the one that looks like a smaller CLS Mercedes), and must say, it has to be one of the worst cars I've ever driven.

The front suspension bottoms out over speed humps and it takes two or three bounces for it to settle down again. The 2.0 TT engine has turbo lag so bad you need to make an appointment and when it does come on the torque steer is horrible. Essentially, they put a pretty face on a Jetta and raised the price to the mid 30's.

Just wanted to post this a a public service warning to anyone thinking about one of these. Do yourself a favor and rent one for the weekend before plunking down any cash.

Good to have the opinion of a fellow E55 owner on this. I always wondered how these cars drive. They do look nice

You loaner is probably a base model?

Ive got a hard cash offer from a Rover dealer that wants it. General manager kept it for a day and overnight, and tossed me the keys to his RRS, which was a hunk of crap.

The dealer with the Caddy, offered me a little less, sight unseen. But if I trade it, I get the sales tax credit, so theres some math to be done there. I still have my truck, and just deciding what to do......

I wouldnt wait past the 31st, bad things happen in the car market at the beginning of the year with bad weather and tax season. You better take someone on their offer. just my 2 cents.

I had a Lux Plus rental that was pretty nice...I thought it drove fine for what it's supposed to do...Got around 26mpg with the way I drive too...I even thrashed it up and down Mt. San Jacinto from Banning to Idyllwild and had a good time It was a 2012

It's a 2.0 Turbo and there is a V6 option which may be an improvement but from looking at the 0-60 times their almost identical. Lots more torque from a V6 might make a big differance. But, there isn't anything you can do with that god awful suspension.

First impression of the car is very good as the fit an finish is above what you would expect from VW and it's very quiet and smooth on good surfaces. Spend a little time in it and it's short comings become glaringly apparent.

For the same money, you could drive a 3 series BMW.

a buddy of mine is the service manager at the local VW dealership.... he said.. dont buy a VW of any flavor. Take that with a grain of salt FWIW. But read up on VW reliability in general.

I was looking at the toureg and the tiguan for a while. I went for the Cayanne as it was VASTLY superior in every way imo. The VW dealership here is like an Apple store... charge what ever we want, act too cool to help you, and there is never anything wrong with our stuff its all your fault.

Never even drove it. Wife got in it, loved it...then turned around and looked in the back seat. She didn't realize it was a 2+2, with no optional rear bench seat. It's really my fault as I neglected to tell her, thinking it didn't really matter since we only have 2 kids. Her argument was that we could never EVER take it anywhere, unless it was just us 4 peeps. I can probably count on one hand the amount of times we've had a 5th person with us....but sometimes it's better to pick your battles.

The dealer was also a Mazda/Chevy/Saab/Caddy dealer, so we spent some time there looking at a few different options. The Mazda CX9, Traverse, Equinox, Toureg, SRX, etc.... None of them ticked all the right boxes accept for maybe the CX9. And she got of that truck with the "Meh", response.

We're wanting to downsize from the Rover, get something with better fuel economy, and would prefer AWD. I'm absolutely enamored with the CTS Wagon.....and she liked it too, even though she fought me and fought me on it. Once she saw it in person, and drove it, with the stronger 3.6L engine, she liked it a lot. I've always told anyone that would listen to me, that our next vehicle will be a Hyundai or Kia. We're gonna look at those next, and see what's what.

at the apple store part! But its not that bad. Its a cheap German car. It does the job I drove the CC and it wasnt all that bad but I would never buy one. The only VW that really impressed me was the Mk5 GTI/GLI and the new GTI.

none
The CC transmissions is very sluggish initally. I think it's a DSG
It feels like a golf cart.
It's a problem when you want to make a quick dash from a shopping mall parking lot onto a 8 lane road.
