I dont know what this rattle or w.e it is but am trying to get to the bottom of it and find out...
Car runs and drives perfect like new with zero issues (knock on wood)
when its cold it doesn't really do it but soon as it warms up it kinda does it a bit more and its not noticeable unless your besides a wall or some car or in a garage, than it echos and you can hear it a bit better... soo my only guess is the drivers side header leak or something??

The valve clatter? Sounds normal to me as well. Seems like the M113s are a bit noisy.

well that makes me feel better speaking of that i drove another e55 not to long ago and it sounded just like this if not more that this but must be something normal with these cars...

but yah i will have it at one of my mechanics and have it checked he has star and stuff... but other than that car runs like new shifts are butter smooth.... shes a blast thats all

Mine sounds just like this, both sides, kinda echos off the wall in the garage but is not very loud. It's fine, every larger v8 I've owned has done this to some degree. It annoys me that I can't find the exact source but every 113k I've heard has it.

my 05 only has 41k miles and I was freaking out about this "knock" noise at idle. I was able to hear another one with 60k miles 2 days and it made the exact same noise I thought it was a problem. He said his last one made the same noise. I have learned that these are not the quietest running V8's!!

Almost sounds like a slight exhaust leak but like most have said, it sounds pretty much like my car too.

My car has made this sound for a couple of years and I have 46,000 miles on it. My brother is a mechanic and when he heard it he thought I might have a sticky valve (if its the same sound).
