w211 2004 e55 Instrument Cluster Gauge lights out?!
So 2004 e55 amg just turned 80k miles. Everything is great except for today when I went to drive at night I realized that the instrument cluster lights over the SPEEDO, CLOCK, RPM were all out. The Needles Still move and function and the LCD screens work fine as well as the mileage.
What could this be? I checked every fuse just be sure it wasn't something simple. I assume the LED lights burnt out?? Are these replaceable? I wouldn't want to spend 1,400 on a new cluster just because 3 LED lights are out.
What is my best course of action dealing with this?
anyone have this issue yet?

Have you tried contacting your dealer for any answers? I'm sorry, that I can't provide you with any resolution at this time.

Not just yet, I like to do a little research before I head to the dealership so I know they aren't feeding me a line of .
Hopefully someone has had a similar issue on the w211's and can chime in to give me a little insight before heading to service. I'm not in a major rush because the car is still fully functional and it is just annoying driving at night but I can still see my speed on the center LCD screen so it's not dangerous to continue to drive this way.

well i wish it was that easy... but just by looking at the cluster i would imagine they are LED's welded into a circuit board don't you think? these aren't halogen bulbs we're talking about here.

If you find out how do replace them, let me know. I want to switch out all my backlit bulbs from orange to white or something.

Did you ever figure out the issue here? My 06 E55 does the same thing. I believe it's battery related because if I disconnect the battery for around 5 minutes, then reconnct the gauges come back on. The problem is that the cluster lights stay on hours after the car is off for a few days and then eventually go off altogether. I think I just need a new battery. Anyone have any ideas?

I ended up taking it out and mailing it out to a cluster repair service.
They sent it back and refunded my money saying they couldn't figure it out,
but when I plugged it back in, it worked again and hasn't stopped working since! So weird. I didn't change battery or anything else.
still confused. but it's still working now.

skunkd, wanted to see if this has continued to work ever since you sent it in. Also, could you PM me the cluster repair service you used?
Thanks man, I hope everything with your beast is going well.
