V8 Kompressor engine - Thinking of adding NOS???

I don't think you'd blow a motor but the margin of error gets alot smaller with nitrous. Damages that are cheap for common cars can cost us as much as a stage 3 or 4 package on our cars. Save yourself the worry of running out of n2o or breaking something and just mod for instant power that does not need refilling. Here's some interesting vids from my saved youtube favs.

In addition to the vids, you get stories like this one all over the net from people who were tuned by very reputable tuners:
"i took my 99 to hpp racing for a n20 tune. I was ran a bottle through it pilled at 75. so after several successful pulls, 2 w/ a 100 shot, i go to leave. i hit a nice straight just down the road from hpp and go 2nd to 4th on the bottle, when i let out of it, it died. I was sure had broke something when i restarted it.. real bad miss and making some racket. i limp it home and find one of my plugs appears to have been struck with something. the gap is completely closed and and the plug is black. i take the zex plugs out and replace them w/ ngk at my tuners recommendation. drive it down the road.. running real smooth.. i roll on it just a little to get on the hwy (no spray.. just rolling on it a little) and it falls on its noise and makes racket you can hear across the street.. sounds like the rod is slapping around in the cylinder.. it was nasty.. i pull over an call a wrecker, and grab a burger at burger st.. decided i didnt want to wait for the wrecker and im going to try to limp it home. i have to give it abotu 1/4 throttle to get it started.. making the same terrible racket.. i drive up the street and the noise is so loud i pull over and pop the hood. im giving it a little gas and the noise just stops. i get home, pull the same plug and its fine. all the header tubes are around the same temp when running. appears to be running smooth now except around 1800 rpm. i know something isnt right, and cant really put my finger on what to chase down. i have no explanation for the noises it was making or what hit my spark plug and damaged the electrode/closed the gap. im looking for any suggestions or similar experiences. i dont know where to start. think its possible i bent a valve a little?"

I really didnt wana hear from idiots who think it cant be done, coz it can.
And i dont really wana hear from idiots who think its gona blow the motor, coz its not.
You idiots really dont know anything about this at all. So you idiots stick to driving them stock, coz thats about as fast as you can handle, or if you grow yourself a pair of ***** then add an airfilter for some added power thats also going to be safe.

Do your homework, don't get greedy, set it up correctly, add in the safety features and you will be golden. A 100 shot on a bonestock S55AMG would rape just about any stage 55AMG up and down the highway and on the track. Go for it homey and when done right, you will be very happy with the end result. Don't listen to folks who have no experience running it on their own car but claim to know all the facts
I was originally looking at installing a 100-150bhp system, but after learning that with a Supercharged car this will be more than the stated dose, maybe upto 50% more power, iv decided to knock it down to something like 50-75bhp system.
Iv spoken to different companies here, one who make and install their own systems, The Wizards of NOS, and another company who is in fact one of their approved agents. Both have told me that the risk is minimal and their work is garanteed in any case, its even been used on 2 top motoring TV programmes here in the UK.
The agent himself has a Jaguar XJR 4.2 V8 Supercharged with a NOS system and hasnt had any problems with it so far.
More to the point, the UK nos systems are far far more reliable than the US ones, and people are generally not as idiotic as to hit the NOS button on the start line and blow the car up, which is what most of these Youtube vids are showing me.

Well that was the intended route i was going to take, but thats likely to cost twice as much as the NOS and i drive like a grandpa 95% of the time, and these things for an S55 are not all too easy to come by here in the UK.
I need instant vaginoplasty, but only for really short blasts.

1. Headers - £1,200
2. 180mm Pulley - £1,000
3. 82mm TB - £1,560
4. Tune - £360
Total - £4,120 + Labour, so id say nearer to £5,000.
1. NOS - £1,300 Installed.
2. Tune - £360
Total - £1,660 all in.
Earlier i said its will cost me twice as much, now as you can see the standard route will cost me more than three times as much.

For what it is worth, I witnessed a Ferrari blow his intake though his bonnet when he had a nitrous backfire. It was a $50,000+ hiccup.
In the video links, every one of those cars has access to companies who specialize in nitrous kits and those companies have extensive experience making kits for Mustangs, Corvettes, and Camaros yet they all still had incidents of blown engines. Really makes you wonder if your car is going to be a testbed for their kit. You need to ask them how many kits have they installed on E55s? Have they had any issues at all with those installs? How much experence do they have with tuning the Mercedes ECU.
In my opinion, making hp through making your engine more efficient is the way to go: headers, exhaust, cooling, ETC, ETC. However, even with the correct mods, there are still risks but you will never have to refill a bottle.
Judging by your comments it sounds as if you have your mind made up. There is nothing anyone can say to change that when you have already decided. I wish you luck and let us know your results. We can all learn from your experiences.

In effect, the normal tuning methods might actually hinder normal driving.

But i was posting on here to see if people have any personal experiences with 55k engines and wether if 10 people on here have NOS'd them up only to find that all 10 had problems, or if 9 of them think its the best thing they ever done etc etc.
But nobody so far has any experience with one and i think i might actually be the test bed. But as with all tuning, theres some element of risks involved, from your EML light coming on through to your engine blowing up, but you wont know until you try it i guess.
Im imagining the worst case scenario to be that the car performs badly with it at first, in which case the whole thing would be shut down, probably never to be used again.

do it bro! and report back... I have been looking to do the same thing but like you, i couldnt find much info on here... i even asked for info by pm'd a member that had "maybe a shot of nos" in his sig and he never pm's back so who knows...
I was thinking doing really small shot at first though (25-50 shot) and get some data loggin down first to see how the car is reacting and go from there....
really only time i need that power is on the highway as the power i have now is plenty in stop and go city traffic

You'll never need NOS around the city unless you wana make your car a magnet to walls and street lamps, as you'll soon have your car wrapped around one of them.
On highways, or the drag strip, it should be safe to use yet provide that thrill when you need it . . . . well, thats my thinking anyway. Iv sent a few emails over the weekend, lets see what i get back during the week and il go from there.
I see your Audi is using Meth, whats that like?

and meth on the audi was really nice addition... keeps my IATs down a lot and was able to go another +7 degrees on the timing so its basically like i am running 100oct fuel all the time... definitely was worth it!

exactly... now that i have long tube headers and a tune and can barely keep it planted anytime i go more than 50% throttle while under 40mph
