Strongly Considering A CL65
I am a 30 year old shadetree mechanic that has rebuild everything from engines to manual and automatic transmissions a I would not touch a 65 car even if I could pay the monthly payments with ease. If you can work on your own car you'd have to be ready to pony up big bucks to maintain a 65.
What would you do if the engine blew in the 65? It's not impossible.
And before you say I don't know what I'm talking about... When I was 20 I blew up my Supra. It was something I couldn't fix myself, so I saved my pennies and paid to repair it, drove a camry till it was fixed.
Take some responsibility for yourself. I have lived a privileged life over the last 10 years... But at the height of my car ownership(E500, ML55, E46 M3, track rat E30 at 26) I still maintained and insured a car for my mother to pay my dues
2. And then you try to justify it by saying you want to build your credit?
So what type of response were you expecting when you got the half-wit idea to start this thread? It's people like you that ruin the brand image of owning a AMG. Your a spoiled little sh*t whose doesn't value the concept of working for a dollar.
And working for your family doesn't count!
Im sure things would be a lot different if you had to earn a paycheck signed by someone you dont personally know.
You seem to think AMG's grow on trees?
Linking this thread on Facebook bc you seriously need a wake up call.
perfect case of not knowing the value of a dollar.
IM off to my 3rd 12 hour shift in a row and selling my car because of the capital I need and not because I want to sell it.
People are going to hate because you are talking about getting a 50k car and we all know your dady will pay for it.
there is no way you can afford that car in college from working.I have college kids that work for me and one kid is paying his way threw school and just worked almost every day open to close for me threw his whole xmas break.
Poor kid put in 60+ hours a week trying to pocket as much money as he could because his parents basically threw him out when he turned 18.
man up and get a loan to fix your car to build credit and try to do it without a cosign

Also, I am a little suspect that they show no pics of the engine. Although, they might do this to make the car appeal to more customers who might not know that the VRP package gets rid of the carbon fiber engine cover... which costs a pretty penny by itself (I assume they aren't selling it with the car). One other small niggle is the non-AMG/MB floor mats look kind of cheezy with the red trim.
You are not going to find an aftermarket warranty that will cover the actual brakes. Items like that are considered "wear and tear" maintenance items and would need to be covered under a "maintenance contract". There might be one out there...but they usually price it more than an entire brake job by itself and is a separate contract to a warranty one..(back in the day my ex-wife had a BMW X5 4.6is that we got both an extended aftermarket maintenance contract and aftermarket extended warranty which together cost about $6K+). I haven't looked at warranty information in years but I know some providers have avoided AMG/V12TT models given the crazy costs. But if you can find one you will likely pay dearly for the warranty and maintenance contracts ($5K+ each). Are you willing (or anyone for that matter) to pay 25% of the price of the car for peace of mind?
Also, at 55K miles the car is likely to need new spark plugs (the platinum plugs never seem to last the 100k claimed). If you get it done at the MB dealership, expect a $1,200-$1,500 bill.
I think others offered their advice trying to deter you from making a bad financial decision. It is your choice, but some learning experiences are more expensive than others.... and this would probably be an expensive one.

To the OP go do what you're going to do and quit making threads where you're clearly going to get flamed!

Being you got rid of the car, and that's no longer an option, you have to make your own decision. Asking about whether you should go dump money on a CL65 is OBVIOUSLY going to get you flamed. I have never been a member of a message board that wouldn't have fried you for this thread.
I try not to harrass as much as possible so here's my thoughts. Buy something easy to maintain that will hold some value to get you through school. (used honda, etc.) Save some money, and when you start working for you fam's company or other full time job after school-buy yourself something rude and pointless then, when you can easily afford it or cover repairs/maintenance without relying on anyone else or having to dump the car if something happens. Either way, good luck with whatever you do.
but it's just a theory

this is one hilarious **** thread though......

However, C43 still about $6k + I just don't get it, why he is not fixing his car. I remember I refer him to buy a engine from 05 E55 with low miles for $4k + installation. He put a lot of money in that E55 in mod, wheels, exhaust so why not fix that car ? or that car has other problems than blown engine ? or OP is tired of that car ? anyways, good luck to him.

Also if it's a real VRP 850, GL driving with 1000 pounds of Torque as that's what V12Godspeed had(or the vrp825).
GO ASK DADDY FOR $$$, REPAIR THE CAR, AND PAY HIM BACK THE MONEY, (he probably won't charge you interest) AND STOP WHINNING.
When you finish school and make BIG BUCKS go buy what ever you desire.
I wouldn't hire him!
That's right, the forums had no morons back then.
Let me give you some wisdom: NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU DRIVE!! WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO IMPRESS?
