I have searched and watched countless exhaust modification videos for the E55. And not a single one sounds unrestricted. Not even cutouts. They are all too quiet! Does a REAL mean exhaust exist for this car? Why not?

my simple question is have you heard any variations of exhaust modifications for these cars in person. . .there is such a thing as too loud. . .and it happens very quickly with these cars.

speaking of which. . .ran into a stang with a "real" exhaust. . .for some odd reason I couldn't hear it when he was in back of me. . .getting smaller and smaller. . .

In all fairness - the E39 M5's are downright NASTY with exhaust systems. . .but I could already tell that the one you posted was WAY too loud. . .

 

You want a mean sounding exhuast then you should check out the Eisenmann Race mufflers.
Those things just sound straight up brutal.

The E55 is supercharged so it makes a different sound than the N/A

They may be loud enough, but what I really mean is that it still sounds restricted. And I can't figure out why.

Ive gone down the loud exhaust path before and i must admit there something fun about having a quiet car that can walk 99% of the "loud exhaust" cars we see not to mention most bikes (dont try to race any 1000's it wont end well)

 

I agree, and that's why I like cutouts. But they usually sound like crap on v8's.

I can a little something to this thread, I recently had a CLS55 with Kleemann headers, no res. and a Mesiterschaft exhaust and it was WAAAYYYY to loud for me. When the floor board shakes on a $100k car, somthing is wrong. Now with the Kleemans and a stock exhaust minus res., it was PERFECT. Here it is at its loudest. It does not sound that loud here, but in real person it was crazy.

This is my favorite so far. Loud but also has a nice sound to go with it, and not that wet fart sound. Wish I knew what he has done, I've watched plenty of supersprint videos and none of them sound like that.

I'm a weirdo and want to stuff muscle car brand mufflers under my car and see what it sounds like. I hate flowmasters but curious how it would sound, really want to try a hooker aerochamber though. Hell at $50-$100 a piece its WAY cheaper than any of the brands getting mentioned. lol

 

I have magnaflows on mine. They sound pretty decent

Any sound clips? The 55 is in the garage till all the salt is off the roads so I'm not planning on messing with it till spring time. We may be able to do something then if you still have em and I like the sound.
