I've seen to many problems with hankooks having crazy looking blow outs for me to ever trust them. Also had a set on my old 20" wheels on my tahoe that had issues with balancing due to the tires. You get what you pay for in tires.

I plan on stepping up to a Nitto or BFG drag radial on mine but it is not a daily driver for me.

The Continental tire has people right on their site complaining about balance issues and flat spots? Doesn't sound so good...this was just clicking the link that AK put up...hmm (Continental ExtremeContact™ DWS) maybe just a couple bad apples?

I do like what I am hearing about the Michelins....anyone else?

+1 Nexxen sucks big time. I have Nexxen N7000 and this is the worst tires ever. Sometime i can even see the black rubber residue from the tires in my rear bumper ! I have them for 10k miles..... soon need to change.

It's all in what fits your budget. The Michelin pss are going to be the best summer tire but are also the most expensive. I go through a pair of rears every 1-2 years and i dont road race my s600 so the v12 evo works for me. Never had any structural issues with them. I've had more problems with Bridgestones than anything. The conti dws is a good all season and I've never had any issues with them at work, but you give up grip in the summer

the Hankook Ventus V12's are really good. Had them on my old e500. S550 and Jag XJR. The only complaint is a somewhat weak tire wall. Ate a pot hole with the 20 inch rims and instant bump on tire. But it can be avoided if you drive carefully

Didn't notice any excessive roll, but it was on a shorter, wider tire (295/30 R19) and significantly lighter car. Also couldn't hear the tires over the exhaust and general noise of the BMW anyway.

They're twice the tire that the Contis are, for sure.

+1 Running them for about 4 months and have been outstanding.

Mind you, I moved to DC from southern CA, so was used to burning through summer tires in 6 months. No real loss in performance and really good in water.

The R-s3 takes 0.3 seconds off my 0-60. But, the life will be half. I use these for track days and v12s for commuting.

I have the Conti Extreme DWS. Got 17k from the rear, which now need replacing. I am not uber agressive in driving style. I have liked them quite a lot.

They are such turds. I have to say it again. I have total Abraham's+ treadwear on them (you guys DO know the penny test) and probably like 6 or 7 K on them. I hate them.

Interesting that nobody has addressed rotational weight...The Hankook V12 Evo 245/40/18 weigh 25 lbs and the Michelin PSS weigh 24 lbs....IIRC, 1 lb on the wheel + tire = ~5 hp....

LOL wrong....rotational mass is always critical...I guess what you meant to say is what is ~15 - 20 whp on a 400+ whp car ??? And the answer is still 15 - 20 whp...And I cannot believe someone associated with a business catering to racing would say that but oh well...
