I'm thinking of putting Meisterschaft mufflers on a SL55 that I'm picking up Monday. The car currently has Kleemann cams, sport cats, and headers. How will this sound? I'm worried about drone, but I'm obviously all for screaming at WOT.

You are in a SL55 now, more sporty, demands a way stronger exhaust note than the low key, subdued E55.

I would not think twice about it. I know it is a trip, but you should try and make it out to the next Caffeine and Octane here in Atlanta. It will be well worth the trip and I would love to see the new beast.

Have you driven it yet, if so, how is the top end with the klee cams?

Good point. I'm sending the money for the exhaust tomorrow. Hopefully it will be shipped Monday. Fellow MBWorld'er nsxguy is the seller. So far, great communication. Hopefully this transaction will be must easier than my transaction w/ Sergio Ceja (see other thread regarding that POS).

I'm picking up the car Tuesday, so I haven't driven it yet. However, I've got to drive it back from Raleigh, NC to MS, so I'll have plenty of time to open it up.

I had this on my CLS55 and it was retarded loud. Couldnt stand it. Cost me $2400 to correct the problem. Sounded like a stupid stock car.

Which setup did you have? Same as I listed? Were your mufflers Touring or Race? I'm all for a good sound, but I don't want to get a headache every time I drive, especially with the cruise on at 70-75mph.

Same minus the cams. You couldnt hear the radio. Pissed me off. Biggest waste of money and time. I bet with the headers that SL sounds perfect. The exhaust will make you hate the car and never want to drive it. That is how I felt anyhow. I had a E39 M5 with straight pipes that sounded better and not as loud. Mine were the race edition.

What about resonators? Did you have yours or delete? I haven't sent payment yet, so I want to be sure this is what I want. Also, what did you end up going with?

Bump this back up to see if anyone else has an opinion on this. My car currently has Magnaflow mufflers. Would Meisterschaft be louder than these? Still looking at buying a new exhaust setup.

OK, if you have all this installed in your car, don't install Meistershaft because you won't hear anything. Kleemann Header + Cam = my limit. And if you have Sport cat + Meistershaft = Drive you crazy soon.

For my E55 header I had to remove the Primary cat so not sure about the SL.

The tough part about the comparison is I'm comparing my current setup which has Magnaflow mufflers (previous owner put this on there) to replacing the Magnaflow with Meisterschaft. Any clue if the sound would be similar or would the Meisterschaft be much louder than Magnaflow?

MUCH louder. Like someone said it sounds like a Nascar, NOT what most people want out of a Benz (no offense chawkins, you car rocks hard man). I did one for about a week and then went back to almost stock. There were parts rattling in my car at 70mph on the freeway. If I wanted to hear that kind of stuff I would have bought a Camaro SS.

Sounds unanimous. I'll stop trying to convince myself and just go back to stock. I think stock will sound better than the current Magnaflow setup on there now, and look 10x better.

The stock SL mufflers are fairly aggressive (more so than e55) with headers and resonator delete. If you want a more aggressive sound without drone go for the stock CL mufflers.
