Also mine is an 06 set to ROW in CGW and SBC hold continues to work. Do I need to revert to USA to also use SBC-S and soft stop?

Can either of you confirm which one of the 2 paths i posted under developer earlier you successfully used to change the actual values?
Also any special extras like motor running or motor off when you made the successful change?

Thanks fellas.

Yep, 704 and 706 are the only ones set to not active on mine too.

*EDIT* I tried it again just now and I can set them ... Not sure why it is not consistent. This is why I put the warning to do this at your own risk ... I have them all set now. I have not tried the softstopp function yet to see how well it performs ..

Here is a screenshot of them all set:

Usually 704 and 706 are not active and in the USA 703 is not active either.

nanayaw6:
The path you posted control units>chassis>ESP>development>control unit adaptations>...>Kodierung where all the drop downs default to nicht activ is the right path. I also saw communication error messages when attempting to save (F3) the settings most of the time. The last step in the following suggestions MAY be what allowed the settings to save.

Regardless, I still can't actually use sbs stop and soft stop, even Tried changing ROW to USA (then lost sbs hold) and other countries.

Would suggest:
-Motor running to ensure enough batts voltage
-clear any fault and event codes when in ESP, both before entering Dev mode as well as after entering Dev mode
-clear any fault and event codes under Engine
-finally BEFORE entering Dev mode under ESP, there is a menu item for programming /reprogramming the control unit. Enter that menu (DAS takes a few seconds to read the control unit) then back out (F1) 1 level (don't proceed with programming). Now enter Dev mode to change those settings to activ. They should save.

Setting to RDW (or ROW) is one key thing although I did manage to set the coding while set to USA but did not try to see if it actually worked or not. In ROW everything works fine for sure

As for communication errors, I am not sure. I had a similar issue when programming ME and just read the coding to transfer to new control unit but not actually transfer to new unit and that brought the codings in .. not sure about ESP though.

As for actually activating, I believe this has been documented somewhere but cannot remember where ... you can only activate SBC-S when below something like 10 or 15 Km/h (maybe 20) .. anyway you just pull the cruise stalk towards you and a small SBC-S pops up on the IC. You can also activate when you are in SBC-H .. just flick the cruise switch towards you and you will see SBC-H change to SBC-S. I thought I had read somewhere before that you push the switch away from you to activate and maybe that's true on 2004 and prior but for my 2005s it is a pull not a push.

I like playing with these gadgets .. just installed distronic again :p ... for a 10 year old car, it is fun to find these "new" gadgets.

Thanks fellas. It finally took. I tried with key on, engine on. When it finally took, the only difference I noticed was that my engine had just reached operating temp with the motor running. I know a lot of the TCU stuff has a minimum coolant temp pre req so maybe the same holds for ESP. I will take the car for a spin later today to test this out.

Thanks again guys.

Pls write back and let us know if you can use the features. I just cannot get them, except SBs hold which I always had, to actually work no matter how slow I go and pushing/pulling/holding the cruise ctrl stalk like I saw it working in a YouTube vid.

So Tested it on my 06 and No Go

Settings were applied yesterday but still cant activate sbc-S with the cruise control. I must have tried every combination I could think of from a complete stop all the way up to 40mph. Pulling, pushing up and down nada. Tried to even activate it while sbc-H was active but no luck.

Yep Lucky us right. On the bright side screwing around with my instrument cluster settings, I managed to turn on the limited trunk opening feature and the speed limiter function for winter tires. Now I got to troubleshoot a leaky dynamic seat air bladder so I can stop the leak.

Older thread but what exactly are people using to be able to control and get to hidden features of the car.

I keep seeing on Ebay STAR but not sure which version to get for the E350.

Found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-STA...0AAOSwymxVJZEm
But no clue how it would connect to the car as it doesn't have the OBDii port, but I guess Mercs would use different connectors?

Then I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-BEN...008393&vxp=mtr

This seems 100% complete though:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Complete-Sta...8AAOSwkEVXF-GC

Thanks,
-Nigel
