Going to run the 1320' tomorrow...
Wish me luck, I am going to run the 1320 at Sacramento Raceway tomorrow... Its the first night of 2012 Wednesday Night Street Legal Drags.
I haven't ran the E55 in the quarter yet, but have been practicing launching from a dig... Hopefully can put some decent numbers down.
Is there anyone in Sacramento that wants to join me? I am off at 5PM, and am planning to be out at the track around 5.30PM.

Sac Raceway is pure shiz on Wednesday nights. There is ZERO track prep. If you aren't an AWD car or running DRs, your times will suck.
I want to go tomorrow, but I am still recovering from surgery.

Good luck Justin, whether its Wednesday or Saturday that track prep is not very good. If you are going to run street tires I would make sure that you air the fronts to 40psi and the rears to 36psi to make sure that you have a full contact patch. Last thing make sure that you run in the right lane. What type of tires are you running?

275 wide Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric. They hook decently well on the street.

Street and track are completely different, don't expect to come out as hard as you are on the street with street tires. Take your time, avoid the water, get the tires good and cleaned off, and smile at all the people you will be running away from.

After your burnout don't forget to turn the traction control back on then when you stage put your foot on the brake and bring your rpms up to 900 to take the slack out then let it come back down to idle and launch from there. Don't worry about your reaction time, go when your ready!

One more really n00b question, do those 12-13 seconds go by quickly? How do I get my time slip?

Read this in the drag racing thread. Pull around the water, back in to wet tires, then burn'em after pulling out?

Sounds good. This is a n00b question, do they start timing when you cross the line, or on green?

Timing starts when you leave, not when the light turns green. Those 12-13 seconds go by in about....well....12-13 seconds. There should be a shack or hut or something to get your slip. Somebody will be there and hand it to you.

The timing will start as soon as your car moves and yes it does go by pretty quick and make sure that you stay on the gas until you see the white light which means you completed the 1/4. There are 3 exits to the right at the end of the track then follow the narrow road to the little booth on the left and get your ticket from the lady with the dog.

Yes, go around the water box, but don't back into the water. You're on street tires, do not get them wet. Just give them a good scrubbing before staging. You can back up to give yourself more room to trail out of your burnout, but don't roll back into the water, if you're on streets.

I am pretty n00b when it comes to this.. -_-
Ok, I mean does it seem like a quick 12 seconds?
Lets see what happens tomorrow!

Don't go in water, go around it and then with traction control off do a little burnout (not in the water) since you have street tires. Be EASY on the throttle off the line then get in to it or you are going to just spin right away and if traction is on the car is gonna fall on its face, if traction off then you will go sideways.
I personally get better times with traction control off on my street tires and feather the throttle to spin a little but not get to wild, if I leave it on then the car instantly bogs and I run slower times. I have 180 pulley, headers, throttle body though so lots of torque. I would still be easy on the throttle off the line to cut a decent 60ft and you will just have to feel out the track on how good the prep is or isn't.
Time doesn't start until you take off. You can sit there for a minute and then take off and run a 12 second pass. There will be a little booth at end of track after you exit the strip and head back to the start, they will have your ticket after each run.
Edit: damn it, got beat posting twice.

I am getting pretty excited to see what she can do though.

For someone whos a bit of a n00b, would you say to run the first few passes with or without traction control? I am pretty good with car control, but it sounds like the 1320 is a different animal than anything I have ever ran on.

It takes some practice trying to get a high torque car out of the hole well and track prep helps a lot but it isn't so frequent that on a test n tune they waste their time/money doing a good prep.
I will say if you don't know, be sure to ease up to the beams so the first yellow light goes on, then inch forward until the 2nd yellow light clicks on and then wait for the tree and take off when the last yellow lights up right before green if you want to try and get a good reaction time.
