Thrill Ride - Should I Take Ferrari 360 Modena or Aston Martin DB9

Peeps,

Off topic a bit, but my wife got me an Xmas present for a 60 minute drive in either a Ferrari 360 Modena or an Aston Martin DB9. I get to drive 1 of these cars for 60 minutes around town.

As I've never driven either and I'm guessing some of you have which one should I go with?

Again a bit off topic here but I figured I'd ask the experts!

Thanks as always.

Alex

I'd take the 360. Your E55 will feel faster than both anyway. Might as well get the "Ferrari".
Tough call. DB9 is beautiful inside and out but 360 is one of fav cars. Enjoy and post how you feel getting back in the E!

Ferrari will feel like a E320 compared to the E55, but should handle on rails.. Id go with the Ferrari.

Driven both...

I would personally take the DB9 (I hate the "Ferrari Flash" and the attention), but if your after fun, then 360 hands down.

I've driven a friends F430 before and it was amazing. I think having the top down and listening to that V8 made it even better. Personally, the cars are in two very different classes. The Aston is more of a GT car while the Ferrari is a lot more of a "supercar". If trying to just drive around and have fun, choose the Aston. If your trying to smash on a back road or do some hard driving, I'd choose the Ferrari.

Both cars definitely look exotic and sound great. I was woken up by the exhaust of a V8 Vantage this morning

Either way, you'll have fun!

Ive driven the 360 Modena a few times and its a great car.
Really fun to drive, and the noise is pretty awesome too especially with an exhuast.
My vote goes for the Ferrari.

I raced the 360 Challenge back in the early 2000's and owned 2 challenge cars. (Both unfortunatley being sold off as scrap, dont ask...) The 360 is a brillant handling car, at least in challenge edition! Obviously Clarkson would tell you to drive the Aston, but theres still nothing quite like a mid-engine V8 Ferrari...choose the 360

Ferrari it is!

Thanks guys appreciate the advice and I'll take some pics. It's funny but I'm sure my E55 will be significantly faster but I'm sure the Ferrari will handle better.

Thanks again!

You got one hour. Made loud to play loud. Go with the Ferrari and you will feel like a King with everyone pointing and checking you out.
Since 60 minutes in a Ferrari is a long spell for an Italian car without some malfunction, just pray you don't get a warning light of some sort !!!!
Now, if it was the Aston DBS or the One-77 I would say Aston, but the 360 is my vote.
Enjoy and don't scrape anything or it is on you I'm sure !!!
Post some pics afterwards.

I'd go for the Ferrari for sure. I've always wanted to see what all this mid engine business is all about. Hear it handles a lot differently and I'm quite curious about it. That and the whole "it's a Ferrari" factor would make me lean that way. The Aston would be nice for a fun long road trip, but for screwing around for an hour I think the Ferrari would be more fun. That and I see probably a dozen or two Aston's for each Ferrari I see. Have fun!

Lol? The Aston is a beautiful car, saying this is like saying the E55 is a Chrysler. Whether it is or not, I would drive an Aston any day.

If you're getting the car from an exotic rental place, choose either since you will likely not get to drive them near their limits. Exotic rental places have gps tracking devices that will tell them how fast you're going and where you are, and if you go too crazy they probably won't hesitate to use the remote ignition kill switch once you're parked. Just read over the contract and take it easy to avoid forfeiting the car before your hour is up.

Aston has obvious Ford parts
There is not one thing in the car that looks like it came from a Chrysler.

Having three Jaguars in the family, an X-type, and XJ8L, and an XK8, I can tell you that none of the parts look like they came off a ford. Trust me. I had an X-Type for years. There is absolutely nothing that resembles a Ford in a Jaguar. Not the leather, door switches, or mirror matched wood grain. The only thing the X-Type shared was the motor and chassis. Hmm sounds like the C32 and Chrysler crossfire. They don't share the chassis though. And just because Ford owns PART of Jaguar doesn't mean the cars are produced here in the States. They are still built in Coventry, England like they always have been.

Ford = Jaguar?

Audi = Lamborghini?

VW = Buggati?

I think not lol

The F430 is miles better than a 360. The 360 while beautiful will be in for service quite often.

good luck
