2006 Mercedes E55
Okay so drove the raptor last night. Apparently about an hour after I drove it someone traded their 04 silver E55 in on a white one.

Did you read this post ? Seems a little coincidental.

If so nice choice!

Interior is a HUGE downgrade typical of most trucks, but who cares it's a truck. Just hold onto the E and get a truck you want. They are not the same and cannot be compared. ONLY 400hp? Really, thought is had something special under the hood. All trucks are in the same neighborhood without the SVT badge. It's a nice truck, just nothing SVT about it.

I've always had a soft spot for trucks, someday soon...

Yep, real trucks have diesels. Mine will look similar to the above once completed, just I'm going the other way (up) , but no crappy 6.2. 7.3 all the way!

Who says diesel can't run? back to topic, if I knew the end of the world was coming this Dec 21st, The Raptor would be high on my list as you never know what you might need to run over and standard petro is more plentiful.

I'm sorry, I have to call BS on your first two points... yes it has newer technology, is it better? Or as plentifull? No way... IF an owner so chooses to have it an E55 is chock full of tech... BUT if you dont like it, that is another aspect... knowing what you have done to your E, I can tell you arent a fan, lol

And the outdated E55 interior walks all over this molded ABS. The quality of material in the E is way better. Is the design fresh? No its 12yrs old... still better quality product

Having said that... I wouldnt trade the E55 for a raptor but I would add the raptor to my garage if I could afford it... its just BAD ***... Snow fun, summer beach fun, and its factory warrantied

I bought an 2011 ecoboost f150 Supercrew. I love it. I still have my E55, but the truck has a ton of tech.(microsoft sync, bluetooth streaming audio...) The seats are nice and the interior is a lot better than it used to be in f150s. In fact the top of the dash in the Lariet and up have real leather on them. Mine is 365 hp/420 tq stock. When I am done with my mods, it will be over 500 hp and still will get 23mpg on the highway. The ecoboost is the new diesel. Read up. The raptor should have the ecoboost motor in 2013.

It's just a direct injected turbo'd gas engine.. all this "ecoboost" branding is a load of horse sh*t.

How is that? It gets the best mileage in the segment and still produces the most power. Eco Boost. Sounds like a good name to me. Just because you think anything with an eco name is a hybrid or electric....

I'm just saying that people (morons) think that this is some new revolutionary engine because they gave it a brand name...

it's not... it's a gas engine with a turbo on it.

yawn.

Well I think if you look carefully, you will find the gasoline direct injected with turbo ecoboost is definitely a revolutionary motor. Here is the wiki. Gasoline direct injection is becoming more and more popular and it is similar to a.... wait for it........revolution. I think Ford not taking the bailout and then producing some amazing motors for 2011 deserves a little respect. That is all.

Yeah, they didn't take it because they were bailed out in 2006.

Still a good motor, though.

What they should do in all 1/2 ton class pickup trucks is use a 4.x Liter turbocharged diesel engine, with SCR/DPF/UREA or whatever, and get 30 MPG with 450 foot pounds.

sadly they'll never do that.. because they're all retarded.

I've driven my stage 2 E55 and a Raptor back-to-back. The Raptor made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. You know how in the video games you can drive over cars and stuff and laugh maniacally? That's the feeling you get in the Raptor. A lifted F250 turbo diesel doesn't feel that cool.

I got back in my E55 and felt 'swoopy' and speed came without much effort, yes. But the Raptor left an impression.

Lots of people want the older trucks that still get great mileage, can make tons of power, and are actually still reliable. 07+ doesnt have anything that can do all three of those well.

03-06 common rail cummims is where its at with what you get for your money right now in my opinion.
Have California to thank for that.

Would add my two cents in as I used to race Toyota trucks at baja. The suspension on the raptor is basically a long travel, long arm kit where its just setup for travel and not corning ability on road. Their isn't any dampening or electronic stability for it to act different on the road or else the suspension would be more expensive and probably more dangerous off road (breakage) thats why he has triple bypass (probably not stock on a raptor) for cooling purposes.. probably a reason why the truck did 15s in a 1/4 is the thing had put so much travel to the rear it probably lost a second or two.. don't forget the sidewall size of the tires will also slow it down.

the ability to bomb through the desert and do some light rock crawling with it just makes it a fun freaking vehicle. Though it being 4wd limits it from having an even longer travel front end (4wd axles can only droop so much)

but honestly from someone who has driven a daily driven 4wd toyota 4runner on 37s, mercedes is going to be that much more comfortable on road. I plan on selling my 4runner and getting an 05-06 e55. Tired of bouncing around on the road like a freaking bobble head doll. Don't forget, long travel suspension is built for going fast, not slow, so it tightens up at speed and will make it will take bumps better at speed, you will bobble around when driving around town.
