ZOMG - AMGEEEEEEE!!! (some pics of Toadster's car)

at first, the traffic in Seattle was HORRENDOUS - Obama was visiting Boeing, there was a refinery fire in Tacoma, raining like cats and dogs, and Friday night to boot...
got my valve cover gaskets repaired at Lynnwood Mercedes, and got my extended warranty
it took us 5.5 hours to drive to Portland which should take about 3 hours

once we got through to Portland, we stayed overnight - and left around 10am the next day... much nicer, very little rain the rest of the trip.
My wife and I met up with JP (Quattrodude) and his wife and got to see his '06. We had a great couple of hours chatting up the cars and the women had a blast shopping. Even got my wife a Coach purse

Once we hit the mountains, it was 26 degrees and snow on both sides of the road, there was so much sand and gravel on the roads, mixed with the trucks - the silver car turned an ashen brown... really nasty, I couldn't bring myself to take a pic.
Finally got home last night around 2am from the drive to Seattle... and as usual with my cranky self, still ended up waking up at 7:30am

anyhoo - got my car cleaned up and took some pics today...

took it out for a good rip today, I think the I/C pump is failing - also heard 'the chirp' a few times today when the S/C engaged.
the only options missing are the phone and satellite ratio - there's an AUX connector for an iPOD but it sounds horrid...
all in all, this car is fantastic - life isn't complete without an AMG

it was more a nuisance having 10 billions trucks spraying all the dirt/water up off the road... got to try the headlight washers a bit too.
I did really appreciate the wipers as the rain varied a lot, so they'd turn on as needed and go away when it was dry... took a few minutes to figure it out

we did manage to pull down 22.6mpg once everything cleared up and set the cruise control...
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

going to do some basic stuff, K&N filters (always do those on all my cars), trunk spoiler, and some new flat badges for a start
as for tires - I have Michelin Pilot A/S Plus on there now, and the previous owner even put 275's out back

they'll last me through spring (I hope)
I think you'll find using K&N filters will have a zero effect on your car vs. OEM filters. Some have even reported less hp using them.

I haven't been able to find a dyno before/after (using search) but most people stated that they could tell a slight difference with the K&N filters - I know there's always the folks who say 'more air means more dirt' - but it's the general purpose of the engine anyways - just a big air pump.
I usually see MPG improvements going to the freer flowing filters as well...

If you really want to get nutty try driving the beast down the 1/4 with no filters

prior owner bought this '05 in 11/04 as CPO with 10K miles on the ODO - original sticker is in the car, base was $79,500 upgrades to $91,260

likes:
dynamic seats, love it when my car hugs me back around corners

pano - damn it's SO nice

charcoal interior - not too hot in summer I hope
keyless go - such a spoiled boy I am now

heated/ventilated seats are good, but heat differently than other cars- overall pleased
lighting package - holy ****, seriously - it's like nighttime flying lights!!!

electric trunk closer - soccer mom envy

dimming mirrors - still gonna tint it though

gripes:
Command Navi - ok, sure it's an '05 but I WANT A TOUCH SCREEN!

no phone integration - do I just need a bluetooth puck?

no satellite radio - never had it before, have used it in rentals - maybe not worth it (not missing anything so far)
center console (i have the flipper one) - drink holder is just dumb and it's really hard to shift into drive if you have drinks in there!

Congrats on the car, same color as mine so I'm partial. I love my glow lights inside at night too, just that little something that makes the car special. As far as the head lights, are they amazing or what? I hit the high beams at night and the speed limit signs turn into blazing suns, I just love it.Welcome to the club man, glad you got yourself one of these special cars.
Regards
Then, tint!
lol, one of those pictures looks familiar!

I dig it Toad! I want to check it out in person.
