Painted surge tanks, intake, and engine cover.

Painted my intake and engine cover with plasti dip. I also painted the surge tanks with red caliper paint and lined the bottom side of the air filter boxes with thermal tape. Sorry for the low light pic. Trunk badge is on the way to install on the engine cover. I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Yessir. I masked off the sealing surfaces and then just uses 80 grit to knock the paint off the AMG logo and 600 to make the finish look better. Hitting it with a angle die grinder and scotch brite wheel would probably be better to reduce the chance you'll hit the tank. (which I did once and had to touch it up)

Looks good! Could you link or PM the site where you purchased the trunk badge?

I have a flat hood badge from JB Speed as well. Good quality. Quick shipping.

Any particular reason why no one paints the supercharger?

You have to take it apart in order to do so

Not really. Just remove the airbox and cover and you can get access to most of the SC. You can't get it all but the parts that are unfinished are covered by the air box and cover.
Painting it with ceramic silver caliper paint really cleans up the engine bay.

Nice job to the op....might have to try the plasti dip on those items.

A word of caution with the plasti dip and driving, once you drive the car and the engine bay heats up, dont touch any of the areas you dipped. The dip becomes extremely sticky and you will leave finger print marks in it. I learned that the hard way and ended pulling the dip off, and going back to paint.

Thanks for the heads up. One of the reasons I did the plasti dip was the ability to pull it off if I didn't like the color. Now that I know I like the flat black I will likely paint it in the near future.

Came across this thread and was considering using plasti-dip on my intake and engine cover like you did but was wanting to know how it's holding up and if you've had any issues..

I picked up a trunk badge for use on the engine cover, but the badge doesn't match the curvature of the trim piece, so the 3M tape on the badge wouldn't hold. How do you get a trunk badge to hold?

Holding up great. Little sticky when hot but cools just fine.

I actually haven't found one the right size yet.
