If anything the maint. costs go up if you're in need of a rare part that's been out of production for a while.

+1 the repair cost don't depreciate much compare to the car its self. But if you can get it for $16k great deal. Prepare $5k extra in your pocket just in case. Other countries for this car still selling 3 times more expensive.

If you aren't going to mod the hell out of it, it may be worth pursuing a 3rd party warranty for a few years. From myself and others I know experience with used cars, typically there will be a lot of little issues at first that can really add up in cost, almost paying for the warranty within the first year.
