I am starting to believe in the statement, “ why fix something that is not broken.“
You can say that about any mod, but if we were to be afraid of every mod we want to install, we would all have bone stock cars. Eventually something like this was going to happen and while it sucks, it's part of modding a car.

Why not just grind the crank like I did and be done with it. I took a whole 30 minutes to fix my issue.

That was aborted for the concern of getting the canal 100% dead straight, while you may have got it correct, I think some luck was involved.

Draw lines on the crank the width of the key and make sure the lines are straight, then dremel it within the lines. It'll be 100% straight.

BIP is warrantying the work, and performing the re-install, so I am not arguing with how things are going to be fixed. In the end, they were not comfortable with the beefier keyway fix, and opted to try and pin the pulley/crank.

All I can do is sit back, and WAIT

An update, we had an additional sleeve made for the initially drilling through the crank pulley, see below:

Once the hole is drilled through the crank pulley, the above sleeve will be taken off and the other tool inserted for drilling and pinning the crank. A Karbide drill bit is been used with cutting oil, so I will let you guys know what happens. The drilling should commense sometime today homeys!

Perhaps a milling bit would be a better start for the uneven part of the holes you need to drill? They are perfectly flat and would be less likely to wander around while drilling. You could then switch to a normal carbide bit.

Thanks homey, once I get feedback on how the drilling is going, we may re-assess

Great news homeys, with the tool that was made, Jason just notified me, the drilling through the pulley and into the crank is moving along as if going through butter. They are about to insert the pin.

All of this was down with the motor in its original position, the radiator did have to be removed for extra space. I will have pics up shortly.

How will you keep the pin from coming out after all is tight? The hollow space between the bolt and the tip of the crank is pretty large and the pins may slip out with vibrations...just thinking.

Maybe they are going to use a pin long enough to sit flush with the end of the pulley. It may be slightly off balance since you aren't removing crank material to offset the weight (at least the portion that extends past the crank) but it's such a small amount its probably negligible?

That could work, or at least be close to the length. It's too close to the center of the crank shaft to really matter ( the balancing ).

The crank is pinned and straight as a f*****g arrow. Here is a vid of it running, I wish it came through with sound for you guys, but as you can see zero wobble. I will get the exact details or ask Jason so post in the thread about how the pin is situated and answer some of your questions.

Cheers

Vid

With a video that bad, mine would look straight as well...lol...j/k.

But I'm glad it all came out well, now it's time to test it and cross your fingers.

No I dont, I am eagerly waiting. Two seals had to be ordered from MB which came in yesterday, belts, radiator have to be installed. Last will be to finish up the tune, so I will have it back Friday should all go well.

Been a long build my friend, went in Jan 10, and it is almost April
