For those wanting to remove items or service the MOST fiber optic system...

Here is a simple way to close the loop in the fiber optic system without having to purchase any items other than vacuum tubing.

I removed my CD changer and my audio system stopped working. I was told that it was because the fiber optic system ( MOST ) needed to be in a closed loop and by unplugging the CD changer I left it in open loop. So I removed the two optic fibers from the plug ( very simple to do ) and used a small piece of vacuum tubing to shove both fibers, one on each end, until they met each other. Works 100% perfect now.

I just wanted to post this up in case anyone ever ran into the same issue I did.

WHY? A fiber closeout is $1.50 and you can get them at any decent electronic store that sells fiber optic cables for networks or the dealer.

That may work, but I would not be the recommended way. The connectors should be fairly inexpensive and would ensure good connectivity. Butting those together I would thing would cause problems later with all sorts of things.

I searched EVERYWHERE and could not find one ( locally ), not even the dealer had one ( nor did they even know what I was talking about, had to give them the part number ) and ordering one from the internet would delay my efforts a few days ( I'm pretty pressed for time as of lately with a newborn ). Plus, it really works 100% flawlessly so.

As long as it works .

If you happen to drop a call while driving the car it will give you a good place to look!

When I had an Alpine 7949 with fiber optic changer and DSP processor, it would really cut the sound out of the cable was disturbed without the good connections. But perhaps the MOST system is not has picky.

I am looking for a Pewter E55 - love the color. Does yours have a pano? I need to drive another as it has been a few years since I drove a W211. Owned two W210s but there is a huge difference of course. I have an old diesel now

The fibers are VERY tight within the vacuum tubing and are touching one with the other so the connection is secure. I even wiggle it and pull on it with decent force and it does not get interrupted.

Any one have the MB part number for the fiber optic close out? I will be doing an ntg2.5 upgrade soon and want to get the close outs from the dealership.

The amp is above the driver's side rear wheel, vertically mounted to the inside of the quarter panel. If you have the powerr trunk feature, the trunk motor makes it hard to see the amp
