Where is the best place to buy STAR?

Is it just software and cables to run on a laptop?

It's a hard drive with the software preinstalled, cables, and the unit itself.
I bought from a Asian vendor that advertised on this site.

The bummer is you need a laptop running XP and I believe you need a serial port as well...I am guessing you could use a USB to serial adapter, but some applications don't like the conversion ...

Is this essentially an external hard drive then, that you plug into your laptop?

Can someone post an example of which laptop you're running to use STAR?

I am running an IBM T30 (a dinosaur I know).
"Yes" the external hard drive is plugged into the laptop's USB port.

You can buy the internal or external. Last I checked the external had more options vs the internal.
