engine oil dipstick grommet replacement

Can someone elighten me as to how to remove the engine oil dipstick? It will not pull out of the engine. It seams to be stuck on something in the pan.

I need to replace this grommet as it is leaking pretty badly. Please do not tell me the oil pan needs to come down.

There is no dipstick. Oil is measured from inside the car
You can buy a dipstick from the dealer. What exactly are you trying to pull off?

There is a tube for the dipstick that goes into the top of the oil pan. all of the cars have them. When I had the heads off and pushed it to the side, it stretched the grommet. Look under your hood and you will see the trans and the engine dipstick tubes that have a red plastic cap on them.

gauge cluster scroll through the temp/mph folder until you see the check oil level menu then turn on ignition and wait for it to measure the oil.

Yes that is correct
Once you break the cover you have to replace it with a new one from the dealer.

The dipstick that you could buy, for about $ 60.00, was not permanent, but a shop tool only.

To the OP, as said before our cars dont come with Dipsticks. Its only to be inspected by shop techs with their dipsticks. The dipstick does not stay in the tube. Once you break the seal, you will have to replace it with a new one.

There are two dipstick tubes, the trans and the engine oil. Trust me, it is there. it is the tube that the dipstick goes into. It bolts to the passenger side cylinder head.

Are you talking about the red cap shown above?
Is it me or images not showing up on MBW?

The red cap should be the tranny tube cap not the engine. I still could not find the engine oil tube.

that red cap next in between the supercharger and the surge tank is the engine oil. The black cap with a small red tab behind passenger side valve cover is the trans dipstick. it only has the red tab if it was removed and replaced before or maybe no red tab if it wasn't ever put back. comes from factory with a black tab.

he is asking about taking out the whole tube not just the cover or fill cap. I think he is trying to fix a leak at the bottom ot replace the metal tube.

Mine came with a dip stick but I removed it, unnecessary place where oil leaked from. I check the oil level from the cluster.

It's only bolted to the passenger side valve cover, just pull hard, turn twist etc you will get it out.

Maybe mine was added after the fact or a model year change?? I will take a pic when I get home so you guys do not think I am an idiot. You will see the trans tube behind the passenger side surge tank and the engine oil tube in front of it.

The engine oil tube goes right into the block at the base of the oil pan. there is a grommet there. From wrenching the tube back and forth when I did the heads I oblonged the grommet and it is leaking like crazy.

when you unbolt the tube from the head and try pulling it out of the block, no go.

Again, my fear is I will have to pull the pan down to get the tube out. that will blow as you must slacken the suspension, motor mounts and then support the engine in order to get the pan out!

K so I took a pic just for your sake to help you remove it, the bottom of the dip stick is left, the top is right...

Did it pull out from the top?? I cannot get it to budge. Did you have to remove anything else besides the bolt that attaches to the head?

I see there is a sensor on the pan near the tube. Maybe that needs to come off?

i stand corrected, it doesnt come from factory but the additional tube is added by the workshops sometimes to enable a manual dipstick to be used.
