Hardwiring Radar Detector HELP

I'm attempting to hardwire my radar to my car, the only problem I'm having is finding a power source that turns on and off with my car, if anyone know of where i could find one please help, I appreciate it in advance.

.
Agreed. Cigarette lighter is simplest.

You can move the fuse to make it either constant 12v or switched power with ignition.

I hardwired it in the overhead console because I did not want to run the wire across the headliner and down the A pillar.

The downside is I could NOT find a switched power source, so I have to turn off the V1. Yes it is a PITA, so if you are up for the wire tuck, then go to the cigarette lighter.

Did you tap it ? I could not find a switched power source. I thought I did, but then found that it went off when the car was running....I know there has to be one up there, I just could not find it and had to rush the job.

It would be great if there is a switched source....TIA

I did the same thing and posted a thread about the DIY with pictures for those inclined to actually do a search. I don't mind turning it on and off as like you, I didn't want to run the wire across the headliner and down the pillar.

If it is a V-1, get the Savay, which powers off the port. Really easy to run the wores right down there...nice and neat!

They do make OBD2 splitters to work around this... Not particularly expensive either.

I am not sure if it is the same on a '06. I don't recall exactly, according to the high res pic it is the top left for the +12v and the second bottom left for the ground, when holding the clip for the connector up. Also for it to work the other plugs need to be inserted too.
