Thumbs up had the H/E installed today... :)

original opening of the box (so sweet)

then I pulled it out (no ding on Steve, the Post Office goofed on this!)

the aluminum tab was kinked down, and peanuts into the brass... fortunately it was all surface stuff - straightened the bracket and carefully pulled out the peanuts

this H/E is HUGE - they mounted the oil cooler below the H/E so it's pushing down a bit on the front lip...

my tech David (who by the way is a great guy and works on lots of AMGs) said he was impressed with the cooler, and was going to mention FT-P to his other customers - he was blown away at the price for the quality.

Now I just have to figure out how to make the lip look a little less swollen

Nice! Now buy a carbon fiber front lip and it will cover that bulge.

only 1.5 hours of labor since I had the front bumper off already (warranty for the passenger headlight) - so I planned it well this time! ~$200 plus change; also confirmed my suspicions that the car had been tapped in the front drivers side as the headlight has 2 broken tabs

gotta wait for that motor to die to replace that one - stinkin $1,200 each!

why capped/taped?

and yes, just ONE MORE THING to get... want to start logging, just too much other stuff going on...

Sounds like your SA is feeding you a line of bird doodoo based on the battery install he quoted you.

Just hire JustinW to do your work.

I would do the E63 Conversion before getting a lip

yah, well I didn't have him install the battery - the SA was more 'in tune' with my endeavors today and showed me the builds going on at the shop - there are a handfull of cars in the 10 second range around here

and yes, JWrock is da man

I think 4 hrs is pretty realistic to remove old HE, install new HE, and bleed system....

3 hours to read the manual, 1/2 hour for lunch. Btw, nice looking HE. Hope you take care of that front lip bulge because it's somewhat of an eyesore.

True, there's that and then there's the fact that the underside of the lip makes more contact with the pavement than any other part of the car aside from tires so your oil cooler could potentially take alot of impact or at least vibration.

this might be a noob question but how efficient is your oil cooler now that its blocked by your bumper?

did you leave the car with them and came to find that they installed the tranny cooler that way , or were you with them knowing that ? Did they notify you ahead of time about the lip and you approved ? ..I would have hit the ceiling if I had to pay for an install like that ! Sorry ..

I didn't see it buttoned up till I got home, they showed me how the cooler was installed with the bumper off, in the garage - I was more interested in seeing the leftovers from the driver's side damage...

I think they left the air baffle on the cooler which adds to the bulk - I'm going to pull the undertray and see how it's attached...
