--Calling out all the CLS63 cluster swap guys-- need your help
Hey guys i just came across this cluster on craigslist and bought it... lets just say it was a great deal, from Canada... previous owner who imported the car from USA to Canada and he swapped it to the KMPH instead of MPH... he posted it as a cls55 but i dont think this cluster is a cls55 its a cls63... anyhow cluster had 2000 miles on it or so...
for those that have done the swap and the Star coding i would love if i can get the coding and what i have to do to program it... i have a friend at Mercedes Benz with star and he asked me to get the coding from those who have done it and he can do it too..
here is the add on craigslist

3 step process
1. Find someone with a mileage correction tool to reset the mileage on the cluster to 0. If you dont do this there will be a horizontal line where the mileage is supposed to be dispalyed and it will not record the mileage when you drive.
2. Use STAR to read the coding of your exsisting cluster
3. Put new cluster in and code it as per the setting of the old cluster

^^as above, also take a screenshot of each of the settings pages in STAR from your existing cluster and print them out, then using adaptations program the new unit in.
its essential milage is set back to zero tho
fyi ; - star menus for the new cluster are not exactly the same hence the print outs

This cluster can ONLY work 100% in your car if it is reset back to zero. If not You can still use it but it will not show your miles. I did swap a CLS63 cluster into my E55 and it is awesome. I bought mine brand new. Also you need Star with Developer Mode activated. Also the housings on CLS is different than the E.
Here is all the info you need:

Hey Bertie, EPROM clamp is used with the tool and can reprogram the chip without removing it. There must be ppl in the US that do this

just swap the PCB from the old cluster into the new and it will retain the mileage.
it has been done many times before dont know why people are still trying to resset the mile on the used cluster to zero.
I also have a stock E55 cluster for sale.

Nice swap. I was wondering if anyone else had done this before... I swapped the 63 cluster on my e55 as well. Love it and it looks great! I was not liking the dated 55 cluster. At first the mileage didn't show up but, it is still recording on the ecu. I asked a friend in Asia to reset the cluster back to 0. Popped it back in and the mileage is accurate.
2 things that I need to address. If anyone can help that would be great.
1. The oil level doesnt work, It will give the check oil and next refueling once in awhile. But, Im not sure if its doing that because its getting inaccurate signal or the oil level sensor is out again? I check and change frequently so thats not too big of a concern.
2. Pre Safe light comes out on the display and also noticed a slightly higher idle. Very subtle but I can tell it went up.
Other then that everything works great. It's been in my car a about a year or so.

it has been done many times before dont know why people are still trying to resset the mile on the used cluster to zero. If you dont have your old cluster i have a couple of used 55k clusters with 70k to 80k mileage so you can use the PCB off that.
