Updated Piston Ring Update Question
I did a search already, and cannot find anything about this. I received a response on another forum about an updated piston ring on late 03's and on, but have not found anything about this anywhere else. Is this actually true? How important is it?

I think I asked this in the other thread asking about this but got no response. What changed, why, and what's better/worse about the new/old setup?

Exactly, I know the date, but have no idea of the importance of getting a car after this. Is it that big of a deal?

If you plan to modifying the car I would get one that has the updated piston rings

Heavily modded? Or anything? I do not plan on anything more than tune, fuel rail, injectors, and headers.

I did some poking around and only found one 03 with ring problems and it was found the ECM was played with at some point. Also had problems immediately after buying and the owner suspected it was hurt then quickly sold at auction.

Looking for any examples of others that have had problems but nothing yet.
