HP level before trans parts needed

With looking at getting tuning for both ECM/TCM...what RWHP level is too high for factory trans parts?

I know that in the diesel world, anything over 75-80hp th trans start taking a beating...is his the same for the 7-g trans?

Do they live longer with a TCM tune?

That's because 75-80hp in a diesel requires 150-200lb-ft of torque more which is what really kills the transmission.

MB is very good when it comes to transmissions so have fun.

What GT-R said, torque is what kills transmissions, of course you're not going to increase HP without torque so yes with HP increase comes problems but it's the torque which shreds gearboxes. Not sure about the 7 spd but the 5 spd is pretty damn strong.

I agree that tq kills them...just wanted reassurance that adding 100hp (at the extreme) that I wasn't buying converters or rebuilding the trans every year.

Thanks guys.

I think you should be fine, I've seen some C63 guys who are way above stock HP and TQ and they're doing fine. I guess they didn't put the 7G in the M113k because these motors are making some insane TQ, Ahmad (BlackBenz) made the same torque as a Bugatti Veyron (until his car sadly disintegrated....with style though ) it wasn't the gearbox that let go it was the internals of the motors so...

Renntech do an upgrade for this gearbox at like $3,600, so does Weistec, their "bulletproof" upgrade is $5,489.99.
