Extra oil cooler for E63

Anybody tried this on a E63?

Or replace OE with bigger one?

Edit: OIL COOLER, not cooper!

I usually run 99-100 degrees C while driving normally, 106-108 after a quarter mile pass, never seen it north of 110, what do your temps look like?

Ha! Newly AMG you live in a colder climate!

Here in Phoenix Arizona!

I also usually run 98-100*C while driving normally!

A quarter mile pass here results in 108 or so as well, but i've gotten my oil temps all the way up to 117*C before!

I know you guys put up higher numbers on the thermometer, but man you've gotta wrap up in a wet blanket THEN go outside to get a taste of this humidity! Worse when I lived closer to Va. Beach!

Haha my back-office folks are out in Phoenix, we have that argument of "who's got it worse" all the time.

I used to stress to see the temps go up but I just read in another thread that up to 140 is apparently ok, so flirting with 110 should be fine. Car ran suprising well in 4 back-to-back (-to-back-to-back) passes, then I heat-soaked my buddies E55 after 15 minutes in 90+degree humidity, glad I went with the N/A 6.3 over the blower setup, less finicky, still hauls ***!

I was really worried running oil up to 117C sometimes .. I was confrimed by the dealer its completely normal and can withstand 140C peaks (that a red light will warn excesive oil temps.)

Water temp always normal.

The heat coming from the engine bay and sorrundings is pretty amazing! .. I think half of my tyres wear is because of this.

Anyhow, I was wishing there was an oil cooling mod for the 63s!

Anyone know exactly where the oil cooler is located? Is it the one when you open the hood, on the right mounted on the front of the radiator? Or is that the AC one?

The oil cooler is located on the right side, behind the fog lamps.
You can see it tru the fog lamp grill.

My car also runs rather warm.

During normal driving the oil temp remians between 103C to 105C.

If I push it it goes upto 120C.

But all of this is on road driving. Not sure how hot it will get on track.

I wouldn't do it!

Are you getting sustained high oil temp?

I am searching for some diagrams, trying to figure out if there is a fan or its air cooled only and found this: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ooler-fan.html

Im not familar wiht E55s, but theorically a S/C would benefit more with a bigger Intercooler (H/E) .... So if the oil temp is not an issue you may use the area for an extra or bigger H/E....

We've got an extra menu in the 63 that you guys in the 55s don't have, shows oil temp, voltage, and I think a race/lap timer. I think with the 55s it's probably just dummy light or no dummy light

I believe the fan kicks on above 108-110 degrees. I'd often hear it at stoplights, this past summer.
