BRAKE DUST!

Any product out there that someone can recommend to avoid the unsitely brake dust collection on my wheels? Any tips/tricks?

I have been so on the fence with this. I was ready to do akebonos until two MB techs told me stock pads brake extremely well and last a long time. I think I am sticking with the stockers for now and I have wheels that are a mother to keep clean.

+ 1 million to the Akebono's.

It will literally negate the problem all together.

Hit up James or Peter @ ACG!

They got me a great deal on pads and 2 piece rotors back when I had my 55.

I agree too. Had Akebonos on my CLK and now on my S600.
I would never go back to stock pads.
If you switch, you'll see what we're saying...no performance decrease and no need to wash your wheels every 5 miles.

Akebano!!

My father and I run a MB repair shop in SoFla, we've had problems with brake pads... Pagid(OEM) squeal like a banshee, Original pads get your rims black after a few days, Textar also squealed like no tomorrow, and the rest just seemed to have poor quality.. Akebano's was the solution. No noise whatsoever and VERY minimal brake dust on the rims on my personal car since the past 200 miles now and trust me I get on em good. We won't install anything else at the shop now to save us the headache even though we're somewhat sponsored by BOSCH, their Bosch Quietcast pads aint so quiet trust me

Thanks for sharing the experience.

Where do you buy these pads. Also, do you skim the rotors when you put new pads in?

Also, what type of pads should I get?

Thanks
Hasan

There is no denying OEM pads wear good and brake excellent, they are just noisy and dirty. I wonder how after market pads affect rotor wear? I know some are tough on rotors.

i had akebnos on my old 06 clk. dust problems went away, but i suspect a slight braking power loss.

so im not sure which im getting for the 55 yet. as for now i still have lots of meat on stock pads.. but they dust like a ***** and i dont even drive hard.

I just switched to Akebono's. A little less bite and a more dull braking feel over OEM but the brake dust is almost non-existent

As if this thread needed another +1 for Akebonos. I have them on both Benzes, but sadly they don't make them for the fronts of my CTS Swagger Wagon. I have the upgraded brakes on that dune buggy and they blow way more dust than my MBs ever did.

none
I like Akebonos but the one drawback i had on my C32 was the application didnt fit perfect
There was some play in how the pad fit in the caliper(not long enough). When engaging forward and reverse, it would make a click sound. There were no shims shipped from the distributor. I bought from Tire Rack. This also happened with my freinds C32.

so are you guys trading less brake feel for cleaner wheels? Sorry, but I am still a function over form guy. i would rather have brakes that stop with a little dust on them than pristine wheels that can't stop as well.
