just spent hours in the wheels thread
well not really hours but a long time. my fingers are cramped from scrolling through on my macbook! anyway....
picking up a new to me 2006 e55 sedan, loaded and stock, tomorrow. trying to decide between 19's and 20's for the next wheel choice, and if i should go black with red stripe (boy racer) or a bright silver finish (classier imo)
anyone have any gripes about going with a 20" wheel? i know most are on 19's here so I'm wondering if there is a reason for that. i wish there was color coded pictures section.... the garage didn't really turn up much, or i don't know how to search it properly( which is entirely possible)

I just did 20" on mine about a month ago. I did a little thicker a tire than some prefer to minimize road vibrations and lessen the chance of bending rims on road imperfections.
I did 255/35/20 and 295/30/20 on 20x9/20x10 front/rear wheels.
I lowered the car just enough to get a small uniform gap all the way around the tire.
The ride is comparable to stock and the handling is considerably better!

Depends on your roads. I ran 20's, and after having them straightend twice, and finally rebuild and sold, went to 19s. The day after getting my 19's straightened for the first time (3 months after buying them), I hit a pot hole that bent 3 of the 4 wheels.
I just ordered a set of 18's.. It rides SOOOOO much better, and you can actually drive around without that butt puckering nervousness every time you see a shadow in the road.
Again, if you have ***** roads, I would not do 20's.. Or, if you don't mind square wheels

i agree about the red stripe, however i did see a murdered out black e55 with those wheels and it looked pretty bad ***. i don't know if i could do it every day. i really like the look of a bright silver finish wheel. i had mesh type silver wheels on my white s4 and it looked stock+, which is really what I'm looking for. i keep going back to the e63 19" wheels... it like that it looks like it came that way.

I run 20s with the correct sized tire on Houston roads. I have had them since last February and had problems with bruised Nitto Invos, but no bent wheels. After I finally changed to Pilot Sports, I had no more bruising issues. With 20s, you will have to be more attentive and realize that you run the risk. However, they look so damn good. ![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
Except you raised your car nearly 1½" in the front and 1¾" in the rear with those tires!

Question, have you ever posted pictures of your car? You're always talking about that you've done this and that and the other, but I've never seen your ride.

20's are nice but they will slow you down. Compared to 19's and 18's. I would say 19's are the best compromise between performance and looks.
BIG skip on the red stripe on the wheels. That trend was years ago...
