Low price Hyundai rip off of the E63? Genesis R Spec
Sure looks like a cheap new E Class imposter to me. A 429 horsepower Hyundai motor seems like a ticking time bomb to me for some reason. lol

Ironic that car can lay down two patches of rubber and the E55 cant.
YOu have to remember that car is only 40 hp short of Toadster's E55.
I wonder how this would do against the IS-F. And the IS-F is about $15K more
I drove the V8 as a rental for the weekend. It was nice but not as nice as my E55 even though it does have bluetooth and a better nav system.

To stay on topic...why does the genesis have to be a rip off of an E63? It looks nothing like one and is muuuuch cheaper and has less power. It's like saying a Rio is a rip off of a Civic just because it's a cheap sedan that has 4 wheels.

The front end reminded me a lot of the new E class. The rear reminds me of my bosses Avalon. I've always thought that Hyundai styling was ripping off the look of another car though.
I've always thought of Hyundai as low quality junk but they sure are making me take a second look lately.

Like Moose, I rented one of these recently for three days and was blown away. Hyundai have done a superb job with this car...kudos to a company that has used technology and innovation to make massive strides. I guarantee that MB, Audi and BMW have a few of these Genesis "R" and Equus models dismantled in their underground German tunnels.

I gotta tell you guys, I have been trying to replace our 06 Hyundai Azera with an E350 (W212) or even a C350 coupe, but my wife keeps kicking my butt with the same question. She asks me how many times has the ML (06 also) been towed. To which I answer, a few. Then, how many times has the SL been towed. Too many to count. And finally, how times has the Hyundai been towed. NEVER!

Well you would be mistaken... Hyundai makes some very good cars. They have been an OEM manufacturer (supplier) for many years and have really kicked it into high gear with the auto division. I would not be surprised if they are soon viewed as the company to beat (like Lexus in the 90s & 2000s)....

Hyundai make nice cars, only thing it does not have is a "prestigious" name. if you re-badged it as a mercedes with the same warranty, it would be a top seller in the MB line. But, alas, its just a "Hyundai" to most on this forum. TC

I think the new optima looks great. I really like the direction Hyundai is headed. Just bc a car is cheaper doesn't mean it has to be ugly. Cough chrysler 200 cough. I just threw up a little thinking about it.

I think gm should take note, I would buy a Hyundai over a normal cadallic any day. (Excluding a ctsv for its performance) a 10 year warranty and a interior like this.
it has better reclining rear seats than my s600 that has the rare rear bucket seats

hyundai has come a long away last few years. They take the best out of each carmaker and make it into one of their own. You can see parts of the lexus ls460 and mercedes in the genesis model. Alot cheaper to own than either the lexus/mercedes. But end of the day, most rather pay for the other brand than drive a hyundai.

My experience with Hyundai has been that you get more car for the price. You just have to be prepared to deal with the stigma it still carrys in the mind of many people. The only real negative I see is the lower resale value it normally has because so many people erroneously think it is a POS.

They're all a giant ripoff. Kia/Huyndai is owned by father and son..look at the new Kia K9 aka the new 7-series Bimmer: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/02/k...-get-new-name/
They dont honor their warranty either from what I hear.

^Not my experience but maybe different than others. The warranty is confusing to some. The bumper to bumper part is 5/50 or 5/60 and then drive train only is 100k. Just outside (six months) of the bumper to bumper, I had an idler pulley go bad on our car. The dealer replaced it no charge. Not like it was a big deal cost wise, but still they did it on their dime outside of the warranty. MB has never done that for me.
As far as Kia/Hyundai, Hyundai owns Kia kind of like Ford/Mercury or Toyota/Lexus or Honda / Infinite or Dodge/Chrysler or GM/Cadillac, Chevy, etc.
