Ok so going through all the post here, and theres alot of them on the door keyless go system and door locks, but nothing pertains to my issue, well kind of.
So the car... it's a 2007 E63 w/70k miles and I got it 3 weeks ago, and at that time all of the keyless go features worked. Then for some reason the doors on the drivers side stopped working with the touch of the hanlde, they work fine on the passenger side, both front and back but nothing on the drivers side, front or rear. If I use the key fob it locks and unlocks fine. I checked all of the fuses and nothing is blown. And the kicker here is it's both front and rear, that has me puzzled, if it were just the drivers front... ok dig in and possibly the handle or the switch, but it's both... so my question is... Is there 1 antenna for each side ? could it be the key fob battery ? Any ideas that i can try before I bring it into the dealership?

Do the drivers side handles' lock buttons work? I'm referring to the outer button on the handle as opposed to the one on the underside that unlocks when you pull the handles.

My 2006 E55 had almost simultaneous failures on both the front and rear driver side handles. The lock buttons worked fine, but the unlock did not. Both were replaced and everything is perfect now. No additional antennas or complex diagnostic work was required. The switches were just corroded.

Obviously if the outer buttons work OK, the antenna / receiver is fine....

Sounds like you need a new keyless go handle... takes less than 10 minutes to change it out... part costs around $140.

Thanks, so efiftyfizzle, is that 140.00 right from the dealer ? and you think if the front stopped working they would both stop on 1 side ? And 1 more question, if i get it and replace it, does it have togo back to the dealer anyways to get it sync up or programmed ? or is it pretty much plug and play?

Sorry, it was $153 for me... this was a black, driver's side front door keyless go handle for an 06 E55:

You don't need to do any resyncing or anything, it's literally plug n' play. You can follow this guide right here... it's very simple to do:

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/376245-door-handle-replacement-diy.html

Also, I'm not sure why they'd both go out at the same time... are you sure it was at the EXACT same time or you just noticed that they're both not working? For me when I bought my car, the only one that was working was the front passenger door. I replaced the front driver door one myself, and didn't bother to change the rears since nobody really uses those doors anyways.

Here, I found a DIY on the handle replacement, looks pretty easy.

edit (already posted above)

Just ordered mine, talked to the guy at OE Discount parts, he said if you order online to be sure and put your VIN in there so they can make sure it's the correct part you need.

It's not a mess to replace the door handle... one TORX screw and that's it... took me no more than 10 minutes start to finish. It's just stupid how something like this can go bad so often.

The dealer made a right mess , handle was lose , like a spring was missing , and even dented my door !
One of those jobs if I did not have a warranty would have done my self .

My drivers door keyless go stopped working about a week ago although it would still open pressing the unlock button on the fob. The new handle now costs between $166 - $175 on both parts.com and oeparts.com. I followed the directions on this thread and 15 minutes later I was back in business. BTW the screw uses a #20 torx. The 15 will fit but it's too loose. The one that I used has a screwdriver handle and worked fine.....$5 from Lowes. Thanks to everyone for the advice. Easy DIY.
