oh - and it's definitely from the tailpipes, not inside the car in case anyone was thinking

Do you have the stock exhaust on the car, and is it directly after a pull?

just driving around town, did about 3 hours of just stop-go yesterday and the gas smell was strong enough to peel back your eyelids...

removed the resonator, that's it... no pulls, just idling at 100F temps outside - and some street driving maybe to 45mph...

the car needs a good romp

My car with no cats wreaks horribly. What do the inside of the resonators look like? I was assuming they were either empty or had a couple large chambers.

took it in and my SA was great, no codes - but threw it on the computer and ran the basic tests - no codes, ran the O2 efficiency tests and they're within range - he said it's probably a bad tank of gas and to go take it for a good drive LOL love that guy!

what's that good fuel cleaner - not Techron, it's one that breaks the deposits into flakes and cleans out the combustion chamber...

Go out and drive for 20 minutes on the freeway in 2nd gear,constant/steady high rpm's. your problem will be solved. The cats are loaded up with fuel, super heat them by driving the car like that and you'll be good.

one car at a time
Log your AFRs - that is how you tell if your car is running rich....If you don't have a wideband, take the car to a smog shop and ask them to put the car on the rollers and put the sniffer in the tailpipe - you will know soon enough if you are running too rich. That said, if you are smelling fuel, you likely have the fuel tank / sending unit leak that is so common on these POS (sorry I mean gems of cars).

that sounds like what my SA said - I took it for a few good runs last night, not noticing it now...

I should get a wideband installed... would be good to monitor AFRs. like stated above, the car doesn't stink now after a few good romps
