I would do both, if drag day is in your plans. Would like to give you and exact answer but so many variables involved in picking one or the other and if racing is a main goal, then both will be needed. The TCU tune also works in harmony with highly moded motors. If you had to pick one or the other, then it would depend on your goals and mod plans.

Which would you do first though, I am looking eventually doing both cannot decide whether to change the convertor or tune TCU first?

Primarily for performance gain on the strip

one car at a time
I would start with the TCU tune and talk to folks that have done the TQ convertor. From those that I have spoken to, the TQ convertor route starts to destroy the calm street car characteristics that one would want in a street car. If the car is going to be a drag car, well than I guess just do them both .

lock up convertors drive really nice on the street and a stronger lock up clutch feels great. does anyone know at what rpm or speed these cars lock up.

How about a modded valve body? You should consider that as well. Got mine done at Paramount Performance and it made the 1-2 and 2-3 shift faster and firmer, it won't transform your tranny in to a dual clutch lightning fast shifter but definitely helps.

$600, you send yours to them and they mod it and return. They mostly do SRT vehicles (which have similar transmissions to us) where you can buy one already modded and then send yours to them for a core, but with ours they don't keep stock.

There may be one or two others that do the mod as well but that is who I used.

Converter and TCU tune are the same price? Either it's a cheap converter or very expensive TCU. Get both. Hit up eurocharged for the TCU tune. One of my favorite mods.

You can have your converter done for around $600-$700. The only problem is we can't go to crazy because are converters aren't the same as the SRT converters and the inside is also different. I believe mine is a 2800 stall but the stall will change with your power/torque.

Guys have gone 1.50 60 ft on the stock converter. I dont think you are going to get a whole lit better than that.

I believe our converter stalls at 2200rpms off idle, and I plan to flash my converter on a few launches this Sunday at the strip. I will let you know how it goes.

I just went ahead with a TCU from Jerry, my car was starting to feel modified. Power was all or nothing and car was only fun to drive when pushing hard.
All that just changed, car is a beast when you want it with slick gear changes but has also regained its composure when cruising or in traffic. The car seems to know what gear to be in at any time and reacts quickly and smoothly to any changes requested.
So far there have been 3 mods that have put a huge smile on my face
First Pulley/Remap
Split Cooling / Trunk Tank
TCU Tune

What did the split cooling / trunk tank do so much that it put a smile on your face? The car feels faster with that done?

After sustained WOT my car was no faster than standard before the split, after the trunk tank the pull at 100+ was noticeable better.

Earlier in the year my trap speed at the 1/4 went up 3-6 mph after the trunk tank install.

I noticed a huge difference after my trunk tank and heat exchanger but my stock heat exchanger was clogged so I know that was part of the huge difference I felt. If you drag race and run a big pulley it's almost mandatory that you have a trunk tank
