Hello,

Does anyone have front license plate bracket for sale for 2005 E55. Part number 2118851781 for AMG bumper. It must be in nice shape and preferably black. In Ohio they require front plates. Had the car for two weeks and already got pulled over. Lucky this time only a warning.

If I were you I would get one of these instead of putting holes in the bumper. Rhoplate.com

That looks like a good quality kit. I just need to decide if I like the offset look. It's much more cost effective solution compared to the oem bracket plus no drilling.

It's amazing how much markup is on that part. I am very familiar with injection molding process and plastic materials. Bracket is molded out of ABS or polypropelyne. These materials cost little over a $1/lbs. Bracket weighs less than 1 lb. Adding molding cost process and material cost this part is done for around $2.00-$3.00 range at the most. They have to amortize the tooling cost and add profit margins. Can't justify asking $180 at the dealer.

I'm pretty sure I have a factory original bracket from my '05. PM me if you have an interest. Front tags are not required in my state.

Is the E63 plate holder the same for E55? If so I got a brand new one never used.

I don't think it will fit. E63 bumper has sharper detail at the center. E55 bumper is rounded more. Thanks for the offer.

I have one off my '03 E500 that I never installed. Not sure if it fits your bumper. It's part number 2118850881. It's in brilliant silver

I don't think it would fit right. Dealer showed me 2 separate part numbers and the AMG was twice as expensive as the regular bracket.

i wouldnt deface the car like that, ny is hard core about the front plate thing. id rather spend the 50-100 a year in tickets to not have a front plate. that just my .02

I don't know about NY but here in WA its a $124 ticket and it goes on your driving record.

But I'm still not going to put holes in my new bumper.
