So, a little update the mod bug bit me just like it has on the other cars. First was addeing rear door shades, this proved a little bit of a challenge as with the blue inserts I had to find door panels with the shades and remove the top piece of the donor doors and my doors and swap the piece, it was a pain but looks great done. Then I did the front and rear ash tray deletes, the rear are simple, the front a little more difficult. Next I changed the shifter surround to get rid of the silver piece, and finally a fire exinguisher kit and the under seat handles for the first aid and extinguisher.

Today also marked the start of the next two big mods. Car is apart now as I slowly get the headers done, not that its that hard of job, I just have the next week off work, and its going to rain all those days, so just doing a little at a time. The wheel is off an e63, new from Steve at MbenzNL as is the leather airbag. The E63 conversion on the wheel is one of the reasons I got an 06.

I was told when I bought them that they were early Renntechs, I however doubt it. The guy I got them from did have other renntech items, (cf airbox, etc) so who knows. I got them for a price that if they are Renntechs I got a great deal, and if the are PLM's then I got them for about average. The ceramic I got done on them. They are coated twice, and done in black since the place that did them said black was best for holding in heat, and since they are hard to see when installed, I figured I would go for function more than looks. As for designo or not, I thought it did, but I could be wrong on that

Also thinking that since the pipe section that is just behind the manifolds has to come off to do the headers, would now be a good time to do the motor mounts? I was going to do the plugs and coils now but since the car has 49K on it, I think I will wait on that.

Seen if the mounts are leaking. Mine just started leaking at 90k.
Does that E63 wheel plug and play on an 06?

Steve at MBenzNL is where I got the parts, its a cheap mod, and glad I did it as my wallet fits in there perfectly now, which is nice on longer drives. I did the rear door ashtray deletes the same time. It took a half an hour or so to do it, biggest pain was getting the cig lighter part out to put in the 12V outlet. on the late 05 and newer 55's its plug and play on the wheel

It might be the same item, Steve sold it as one package. The front piece had to be taken out to get the 12V outlet put in place of the lighter. The rears are brainless to do, just pop out the ash tray insert and put in the new one, if you can empty the rear seat ashtrays you can change them out. The package was not too much, and Steve shipped it right away. I got the extinguisher kit from him too which includes the extinguisher, door handle with the "F" on it, a new compartment for that area as the extinguisher one has a spot cut out for the extinguisher handle to go into. The retrofit was easy, and had I not had to pull out a rivit that went bad, which ended with me going to the ER, it would have been a cheap mod. I think the whole extinguisher package was 90Euro shipped? Email Steve, he is great to deal with

All done with the headers, passengers side was a bit of a pain, but the car feels like it has more torque off the line. Slightly louder, little more "rasp" to the exhaust sound.

Do you happen to have an email address for Steve, I would love to get one of those CLS63 speedometers from him.

More stuff done today, Unseen mods here are 4 new aluminum pulleys, a new FTP heat exchanger, a set of TTM scoops, and FTP insulated "Beast Tubes" The big thing that got done today which was major PITA since one of the bolts was stripped and had to be drilled out, is my new E63 wheel and leather airbag
