Switch is to kill them after you slow down so they can get a reading of your speed. Foolish to run them without the switch imo.

my question is, cops can issue tickets based on a visual judgement of speed which are valid in traffic court, so why bother with jammers?

Lidar tickets are basically impossible to beat. Estimated tickets are another story..

So do these tell you when you're getting lasered or do you have a Radar / Laser Detector like the V1 or Escort 9500 along with it?

Yeah there's a speaker built into the CPU which sets off the alarm, I'm going to do another external speaker though to hear it better since I like to listen to music and listening to the exhaust windows down in this weather got me a nice fever lol.
I always have had a V1 hardwired too but it doesn't help on the highway.
Just hope these work...

So it sounds an alarm whenever it receives radar/laser to jam, so you can slow down and hit the switch? Sorry for the newb questions, I haven't had so much as a radar detector in any of my cars in more than ten years.

Yes it sounds an alarm and also names off the laser gun being used. You then slow down to the speed limit and switch the jammer off letting the cop get a legal reading on your car.
