Critique this car...SL55 with mods
My buddy is looking to buy this car, he's worried about the mileage, but the owner has the car well documneted and seems well cared for. The mods were done by this owner and says the car runs strong. Wondering if anyone knows the car or sees anything of concern.
Thanks

If I didnt have 2 little ones, I would buy it for a weekend car. I would rather have a 2 owner well history car then a 50k 5 owner car with no records. That car is nice. People will think your driving a 100k car for 23K!!!!! As an alternative, you could go get a Cobalt SS!!
I have a feeling since you posted it here, it will sell quick as it will get alot of attention now. He better ****** it up.

A 95000 mile car just sold at Manheim for $20,000 before fees and refurb. So you figure $21500. And that was the lowest one ever in the country in the recent several months. It is also not convert season so in the summer that will be worth more. That is a auction car with most likely a sketchy history and no mods. This is a deal!
The other good thing about that car is 03 or 09, its really hard to tell.

That was a good deal. He could probably drive it a year and sell it in the summer for the same price. It looks really clean. The Kleemann package is the deal maker! Thats $10000 worth of stuff installed.

If you look closely to those invoices, they were all in 2006-2007. Was those from the owner befor him? I would request for records of recent maintainence if you care too much about it.
Also, this guy lied. He rarely got over 80mph on a stage 3 car for that long he owns the car? Our cars get to 80mph in no time lol

He bought it in 2006 per the Carfax and his statement of purchasing it with 30k. He states he drove it mostly highway miles which is feisible considering the miles. Our speedlimit is 65 so I am not sure he is a liar when he says rarely over 80. Most people dont go around driving like a moron!

Kleeman cars run very strong. Many variables come into play when it comes to 1/4 mile times. If that car is running right, it should scare the schit out of an inexperienced driver. HP should be in the 500+ range and TQ 540+ to the wheels on most any dyno.
Its important the numbers are consistent and less 15% between the cylinders, it could range from 120 to 180 depending on hot or cold test and gauge used.

Call Bruce at TTM. He will be tons of help. I have had a few 55s and after doing this test on 4 I realized it was a waste of money and Bruce confirmed that. They were always all within in MB spcs. If the car runs good, and a regular MB inspection says it runs good, I would be happy with that. These cars are bulltproof when it comes to engines/trannys.

I am not to worried about going above 80mph.. obvioulsy it has been beyond that. He sent me a video him him hitting 100mph from a rolling start in a matter of like 5-6 seconds. At the end of the day, of course it got a beating here and there. If the motor checks out and has no issues, nothing really more you can do. The guy is very forthcoming. REally cool guy, on many levels. Car is at dealership. Lets see what happens.
