Shardull thanks again

I ran into a post on the classified by (Gaspam) selling 172 asp pulley. I bought it off of him not opening the box thinking everything is in order for install.
I take the car to bertti00 buddy at the benz dealer who he trust to do all his work. Well come to find out from a phone call from Berti00 friend that the crank pulley is missing the gasket crank seal and the smaller water pump pulley so my car is stuck at the dealer

So bertii00 said hit up shardul again he always come thru. which I did and he said I have the smaller water pump pulley in stock and I can send it to you the next day
Since I already bought the s/c pulley and idler pulley from shardull which were supposed to be installed along with the crank pulley. I know shardul will come thru and I can have my car ready for the dec 1 drive to fort lauderdale Dyno tune

Hmmm...it's not supposed to include the crank seal but it IS supposed to include the water pump pulley. Maybe you should contact gaspasm on this.

Oh...that would make more sense. Even then, the crank bolt can be bought anywhere. The waterpump pulley is the big issue here imo unless gaspasm specified it.

Why do you need a new water pump pulley for a 172 surely it will fit without it?

lol he actually DOES mean crank seal as he pm'd me and he thinks pulleys come with a crank seal and doesnt realize that his car actually just has a bad crank seal which has nothing to do with anything with me

and my classified ad specifically said it was a 172MM pulley+ bolt i was selling ... nothing else.... no tune, no belt, no water pulley, no larger h/e or ic pump or anything else a car with pulley would need...

https://mbworld.org/forums/engine-pe...ml#post5416488

it was clearly advertised as just a pulley+ bolt, nothing else , which can be seen perfectly in the ad... i even had pictures of what it came with lol .. 172M pulley and bolt

Does an ASP 172mm need a smaller wp pulley? I have a 176mm pulley fitted with a standard wp pulley. I thought it was only 178mm and above that needed a smaller wp pulley

the ad stated everything that i was selling (PULLEY + BOLT) it even had pics .... no different than any other pulley ad...

do i need to mention he would need to get the car retuned too and that a bigger pulley would need a bigger belt ?

do i need to mention he will get worse gas mileage and need to put gas in the car more frequently too

i advertised it a pulley and bolt only plain as day... i am not a tuner or shop, i just had an extra pulley i got for free and was selling it

Doesnt seem like it is your fault Gaspam.. Seems your ad was pretty informative. Buyer should do his homework and know what he is getting into.

you dont know? but i am supposed to?

hmm lets see, if i was buying an asp pulley i would go to asp website and look it up ... http://autospecialties.com/import.html

oh and guess what, when i just looked it up (which i would do if buying a part of internet), on their website it shows this

03-06 E55 SL55 C55 G55 AMG 17% Overdrive Harmonic Dampner,
wp pulley, belt - - ASP331390 $995.00

and it even has a picture of the water pump pulley and crank pulley and belt, indicating that that is what comes with the purchase.... interesting concept of putting a picture of what you get.... i seem to remember doing the same thing

i still dont understand why he isnt upset that i also didnt include a new bigger belt and let him know that changing your pulley would require larger belt... oh and tune.... i forgot to mention.... please make sure you get your car tuned for the bigger pulley otherwise it wont run good...

and while i am asked to explain all the stuff you need to run a larger pulley , please make sure that if you get it tuned and get aggressive with it to make sure you get bigger injectors since i noticed he is coupling it with a smaller s/c pulley. oh and if and when you do get those larger injectors you cant just plug them in and drive.... you have to get them scaled or your car will run like doo doo

Oh and I guess I need to tell him he has to torque the bolt to a certain spec and you cant just tightend the crank bolt to whatever tightness feels tight

oh that about covers it for running the bigger pulley, i think now i have provide full disclosure and the lawyers out there will approve lol......i mean come on...

-would you buy a used 82M throttle body on the forum expecting it just bolts on a works without searching?

would you by long tube headers and then complain when got them saying you didnt know they didnt bolt right up to your stock exhaust and that you had to eliminate your primary cats ?

-would you buy an engine that was advertised as only engine and then complain when you went to install it that you did know you needed a matching transmission too?

-would you complain if you bought rims only to find out they didnt come with wheel weights to balance it?

no where did i advertise this was a complete turn key package.... i advertised it as a pulley and bolt.... that is by no means misleading. he got a new pulley and bolt for $400 shipped... i think thats a pretty good deal.

Then whats all this confusion? Its not the sellers fault the buyer didnt know he needed an additional pulley.. I mean $400 for this pulley is an absolute steal.. I guess some will just never be pleased.

Hey, I'm not saying you screwed him or anything. I personally perhaps would have mentioned the need for the water pump pulley but it's not like you screwed him either...I get it. For $400 shipped I think it's fair. No wrong done here.

Message to OP, as you are doubling up on crank/sc pulley you need to think about:

Split Cooling
Colder Spark Plugs
Injectors

Based on a 172 with 84 SC pulley you will be spinning the SC the same as if you had a 184mm crank pulley. Most tuners will tell you that you are pretty close to the limit of the Injectors. Colder plugs will help lower your EGT and from your signature you are in Florida, I dont think you will enjoy the drive unless you seriously upgrade your cooling.

Bro your talking **** man not cool
As a forum member you should inform people on what would be missing or needed when you are selling only certain parts from from a package pulley deal when you only want to sell a part of it.
Abviously I know I need a tune that was not the issue. You sir lied about it just to sell the item, if you would have informed me it needed more stuff I would have not bought it from you.

Thank you GT-ER
It's not hard to be more informative when your selling a product that was intended with more parts, but not included in the sale.

My car is due for plugs I will get one step colder, and when we go down on the dec 1 for the dyno tune. I have a split cooling system in the car which we will be installing down there. Plus I have a HE sitting at home going to order a new Johnson pump when I install the HE. Thanks
