Thinking e85 on modded cL65......

I will prob be daily driving my cl65 for the next 6mos before I let here go. I wouldn't mind taking advantage of the higher octane and having it tuned for it.
Other than injectors(have no clue what size I need) and possibly fuel pump, what else is needed? Any negatives to running e85 on this motor?
My next question is who the best tuner is to dyno tune? My first choice would be speedriven, but I'm having no luck getting a hold of them. I'm thinking maybe Euro or OE. Also(if I can find a shop) is to add the meth kit that's collecting dust in the garage and hack off the cats for straight pipes. I think these few additions should wake the 65 up some

If your going to DD the car, keep in mind E85 will give you 30%+ worst fuel mileage. my GN in my sig will burn a quarter tank of E85 on one pass...and I am feeding half the cylinders....it even drinks it heavy while cruising. that is the only downside, other than that you will experience cool cylinder temps, more torque & faster spoolup across the board....turbo's love E85. you will need larger injectors, larger fuel pump, larger fuel lines ( that can handle E85 ) adequate enough to handle the volume or your injector DC's will be high and a real good tune...problem is, if you do have a detonation problem w/ E85 versus gas...it's typically worse and can cause more damage. Also, if you live in a cold area...they do not startup very easy on a cold start and prepare to smoke out your neighborhood for the first 3-5 minutes 93/Meth works good too and is much more practical for a DD imo.

I love my E85 setup, made 70rwtq more on the corn than my C16 race gas tune. On the highway, I see my cluster showing in the 23mpg range, and in city is around 15mpg. If you are interested, pm me and I will let you in on what I changed, and who tuned my sled.

Yea for a DD I would really do your homework. E85 here is like .20 cents cheaper but you will be going thru a lot more fuel.

You can't trust your cluster when you scale for large injectors, especially huge injectors like the ones I imagine you have.

You will need to upscale at least 28% on injector size to make an even change from 93 gas to E85. Fuel line sizes will need to go up for E85. fuel line sensor will need to be re-routed and High pressure pump should be changed out as well, as the outlet side is very small.

If you just want to race and have fun at the track a few times, then I would just contact Eurocharged and get a 93 tune and race gas tune for your car. E85 is more of a full commitment to that fuel, then just using race as. E85, C16, and even VP 109 oxygenated fuels are all slower burning fuels and allow for more timing and leaner AFR to squeeze more power out. No Magic fuel out of the 3 but each have a few small advanatages and dis-advantages, depending on what your goal is. C16 is leaded fuel and you will have to change expensive 02 sesnors out more often , if you run leaded fuel but it does have one of the slowest burn rate`s around. E85 is also a great fuel and burns very clean and slow as well. Just can be hard to find for some peps and fuel system has to be up-sized a lot. Even C16 and VP 109 use more fuel to make same power as compared to 93 octane, just much smaller % than E85. Choices and Choices

Car is currently tuned for 100octane, and at $7gallon daily driving it adds up. just looking for a better alternative

Our rally car runs on E85 and the fuel consumption is incredible. It's also a pita to start in cold weather.

I would not want to run corn in my DD. Meth on top of pump gas is the way to go on a street car.

Better hope that meth kit you put on has a few failsafe steps taken because of you run 93 and tune for meth and the meth runs out/malfunctions your engine is done.

My kit I use to run had a light that warned me the Meth was running low and yes...unfortunately a pump failure wouldn't be good! Never had that issue in the 4 years I ran it.

That's not entirely true...Meth by itself has an octane rating between 110-119. But it's the combination of the octane and the cooling that really make it work so well. I like E85 better, don't get me wrong but to give you an idea just how well 93/alky works...I couldnt push over 17lbs of boost (Im talking the GN here but it's the same principles...) on 93. With the alky flowing, 26-27 was no problem at all and many have gone considerably higher. I just decided when I built the Stage motor I wanted E85 as this is basically a race car now and driven very little.
