2003 E55 AMG
Talking Finally Picked up a E55, wanted to say hello and had a few ?'s

Sorry I don't have pics yet since I bought the car last Sat and had to leave for LA the next morning. But I'll post some up when Im back.

2003 E55 AMG with 68k Miles

Got it for a great deal but there was some minor issues like door actuator and broken foglight but Im going to fix that when I get back.

Had a few questions if anyone can help me

1. Im getting some 06 CLS55 AMG OEM wheels from a friend and I had a question on the tires. Im thinking of running 255/35/19 & 285/30/19 and I'm going to lower it so there is no wheel gap, not dumped or anything. Will this fitment be fine?

2. Im having a hardtime finding some sort of aftermarket bluetooth connection for my phone. I dont care so much for using it to make calls but mainly so I can stream pandora and music from my iPhone. My previous car i had a M3 and Dice electronics had a awesome product that let me stream everything with bluetooth, calls and music. I searched about the bluetooth puck but it looks like it only does calls. Or even if there was some aux kit that connected to the stock headunit or some ipod connection, but I dont want the ipod connection that you put in the glovebox because I wont be able to use pandora.

or if there is any other options please let me know

3. I read about the cheap washer lowering method, now with this method does it lower it enough for the front so it sits with no wheel gap? Also I read people just bent the rear rod alittle for it to lower, is that even safe?

Or I may just get lowering links, anyone have a brand they look more then others or they just all the same?

4. I hate the yellow DRL, but I know how safe they are too have, has anyone swapped them out for HID's?

Thanks again for the help

I just came across this Bluetooth / Auxiliary gateway on a deals site:

http://www.dailysteals.com/

Might want to check some reviews out and get it... it's a really good price.

Yea not a bad deal but I don't really want to use one that runs off the FM transmitter.

FM Transmitter? This hooks into your auxiliary jack of your car and takes in a Bluetooth. You pair your phone to this puck via Bluetooth and it will input the audio to your car through the auxiliary input.

with that tire profile you will have to roll or cut all the fenders to prevent rubbing

What you talking about newb? Lots of people run that profile tire on 19s....

Width might be a problem and cause rubbing but shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks yea I cant wait to mount the CLS wheels

So hopefully I have the AUX input in the glovebox, ill check when im back in AZ.

So you have this exact bluetooth thing? Do you just leave it plugged in, in the cig jack or did you somehow wire it so it didnt have to use the cig jack?

couldn't this be hardwired into the car power? or does it need a power inverter?

Correct, you don't have the Aux input. My 03 had the same head unit as yours. I picked up the Command head unit off ebay with the larger display and installed it. Also bought the Aux cable and ran it to my ashtray as I didn't like the placement in my glove. Now I have aux input, prior to that had to use a cassette to play the ipod through the system.

Was the Command head unit a direct swap? Also whats the advantages of having the Command head unit except for the Aux input and bigger screen?

nice, I was even thinking of going 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 to be safe but then I think it will be stretched.

Yes direct swap, and about a 10 minute install. I picked up the European model which will play DVD's also. At the time I was going to add Siruis sat, which requires the command unit you could also add Navigation if you wanted with the upgraded unit.

Wow only 10 mins. So let me get this straight the head unit I know just bolts in the same connectors etc. and if I get navigation the connectors are in the back already? I would just need to get a GPS antenna. Is there anything else really I would need to get? Also how much was it?
