Not sure whats they've done but I was always under the impression the backhousings would be very difficult to upgrade. Perhaps they did a ball bearing or a billet wheel upgrade.

look how much plumbing is involved with the M157.

Renntech's tune and downpipes are pretty expensive (maybe for a reason) but other tuners offer those mods for $3-4k.......a pretty good bang for the buck.
Rock is right the MCT 7 speed while not as good as a DCT plays a strong role in higher speed runs... the 5 speed slushy of the M113k is loooong in the tooth no doubt.

Another thing is alot of people focus on is peak hp and tq numbers and the M157 with a tune (I have had two tuned already) has a very stout and flat line in both hp and tq. It just runs sweeter thru the ranges. Its a simple easy car to drive fast IMHO.

Nice runs RBJ!!!!

3.55 gears would equal things out a bit.

Wow..so our cars would probably gain significantly from 0-100 w/ something closer to a 3.55....I had no idea we were geared so low.

Sounds about right.

2 HE's meaning 1 HE being stock and 1 aftermarket or 2 aftermarket HEs?

I think RBJ said he has a Eurocharged HE and a trunk mounted Cobra HE.

A 3.55 gear might help, but it might not too. It could possibly blow right through the TQ band, and if that is the case the car would be slower, your top end speed would also be greatly reduced.

On a slow roll, something like a 3.23 gear or 3.06 would fair better than the 2.65 gear, but in the end, a ring and pinion gear change can only do so much. If the other car is faster, no gear change will make up the difference.

Here is a vid of PAcougars car running through the gears with 3.55s. It sputters in the vid from 2nd to 3rd, but I believe that issue has been fixed.

Wow...that is ultra short gearing. Awesome!

In theory, the higher you go in the rear end the quicker the car will be period. The problem is that in reality you start to get even worse traction and shifting problems that can make it slower than it was before. If he's got the shifting corrected and has managed to get his tires to stick in 1st gear then he's golden.

Just look at the Panamera's and the GT-R's. They are heavy as hell and are stupid quick for the power they pack...they also have very short gearing. The Panamera's first gear only gets to 29mph or something like that...ridiculous. AWD is king.

11.50 @125, shifts much faster due to the gearing also. Car sounds like it was running hard through 4th.

The car will be faster in all of it's gears. The only thing it'll lose it top speed.

The E550BT isn't far behind with a Renntech tune:
http://www.renntechmercedes.com/www/node/700

530hp/606tq, what happens when you put on straight pipes, headers, etc...
