"An occasional problem on this vehicle is failure of the Active Body Control Pulsation Dampener."

Just what is a pulsation dampener and where is it in relation to the motor. The noise in the video sounded like those cheapo plastic idler pullies we have on our cars. Changed ours out to Wiestec Aluminum a few years back after the E ate one up and melted the plastic pulley and threw the belt which left me with no PS, the E is a Biotch to try to steer like this.

Hate to bump an old post, but I recently purchased a 2010 E63 AMG and am having the same problem the OP described.
I already took the drive belt off and ran the car and the noise was still present, so I know its not a pulley.
I've read some other people talking about the possibility of the PVC valve making this noise however they also say the noise would persist for a few seconds after the car is turned off, which is not the case for me.
And then there's the pulsation dampener that several people spoke of in this thread, however I popped into the Mercedes dealer here in Coconut Creek and was told my car does not have a pulsation dampener, which kind of caught me off guard. Is that correct?
Guessing it's a long shot but wanted to see if there was an update from the OP, or any other ideas anyone could suggest would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I believe your vehicle has the M156 engine, no? If so it has a pulsation damper. From my repair:
"
327550 Pulsation Damper for Active Body Control (ABC) Replace
000-466-03-10 Pulsation Da
Q-1-32-0001 Hydraulic OI
"
The Tech's description:
"Test Drive the car. Locate the noise. Found noise coming from ABC accumulator at the pump. R&R P/S pump and replaced defective accumulator. Bleed the system. Test drive the car."

Yea it has the M156, however the tech at the Mercedes dealer told me that only cars with the hydraulic suspension/ABC system had pulsation dampeners, and that my car with air suspension did not.

Interesting. I thought all AMG cars employed ABC. Learn something new each day. Sadly, my solution will not work for you then.
