To pano or not to pano?
For those of you that have a panoroof, if you were to buy another e55/e63 would you look for one without pano because of noise rattles?
I've read that lubricating the sliders and rails with the specific MB greases (there are two) will help alleviate rattle noise, but it will come back and it will never be entirely gone. That sounds really annoying to me. I had similar issues with my SL55 roof...dealer did a good job on it but it was never "fixed" completely. On the other hand I really like the panoroof option.

It was a must option for me when I was looking for an e55. my rattle is not that bad and it only started after I slacked on lubing it regularly, but after few years of ownership I can do without a pano.

I love my pano roof, had the motor grind a bit a few months back but had it replaced under warranty - rarely creaks, I have to be going over some crazy bumps in the road to get it to make a sound - gives the car a sleeker look externally too

i went with an 03 pano car b/c that was the only year you could get as an option solar panels as part of the pano that run the fan on recirculation to keep the car cool when its hot. A pano also does not give up any headroom since the roof moves up and over the car vs a sunroof that is inside the car and moves backward. The headliner inside on a sunroof car must be lower to accommodate this. At 6'5" there was no way I could fit in a sunroof car.

I have an '04. It makes a ton of noise. However, I usually am listening to music which covers up the noise. If i'm just cruising in quiet it is amazing how much noise it makes.
