Staggered set-ups: thoughts on 20's in rear, 19's on front.
I was curious if anyone has experience running a staggered setup with 20's in the rear and 19's up front on their W211? I moved to MN last year and the roads are rough up here. I will be buying a new wheel/tire package in the Spring and I'm thinking about running 285-25-20 in back and 245-35- 19 in front to help ease the ride a little. Any thoughts? Is it recommended to run these different sizes or no? Thanks for your help!

I run 245-30-20 in the front and 295-25-20 in the rear, I ran a 19 on the front and 20 on the rear of my s55 but the 19 looked too small. I think you would be better off with a 295-25 on the rear, as for the front the size you have listed would be fine.

Just keep tire diameter close (I believe the threshold for problems was 3% difference if I'm remembering correctly??? Research it.) so ABS and traction control don't flip out and you can do anything with wheel sizes as long as it fits in the wheel well and clear the big brakes.

Run 18s - less weight and better ride quality ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
20s will require a too small sidewall IMHO, require the car to be slammed to look good (less suspension travel is bad), and will easily damage...
19s are a compromise, but still just for looks...I think the stock size, with the car just slightly lowered, looks great.

His rear tyres were 285/25/20 and to be honest his rough ride was only the beginning of the problem. I remember he had a puncture and drove it flat for a little while, but that messed up the tyre and he had to get a new one put on. It took 3 people about 30mins to get it on as it literally like putting on a rubber band, its definitely one of the smallest side walls iv seen, and like i said it made for a pretty rough ride.
After that i personally went for 19's with 275/35/19 on the back. I still would prefer the looks of the 20's from that E55 but with these i think i get the best of both worlds.

Its a luxury car. Not a corvette or lambo.

I think it looks good with some cars, ours not being one. The front tire already has (stock) more sidewall than the rear, so going to a 20" will make the difference more noticible.
