want to use the AUX port but it's a blank... what parts do I need to implement?

I have one of the iPOD cables in the center console, but that really sucks bad...

Wow im surprised your car didn't come prewired.
We had this problem on the C32 section as well with late models as well.
Part #s should be the same, Look it up there.

ugh, no other plugs/holes in the glovebox... just this 'blank' shown above...

what part(s) are needed to put an aux port there?

I can but if memory serves me correctly, if you have the factory ipod interface, you lose the Aux plug

the ipod interface was installed by the dealership, so it didn't come from factory with the ipod cable... would I just need the aux cable from the glovebox to the back of the COMAND unit?

I understand that, but how do I get a 3.5mm plug adapter into the glovebox?

right now it's a blank

Uninstall ipod adapter, purchase new 3.5mm jack take out command, take out glove box, install new hardware to the port in the glovebox.

Search for an ipod adapter DIY install, and just reverse it. Pretty sure it involves no coding

ok cool, I got one of those bluetooth/AUX modules so hopefully would be better audio - the iPOD adapter is absolutely horrid - audio cuts out like crazy

Thanks and Happy New Year!

I had my MB dealer install the factory iPOD integration kit in my '05, and the sound quality is fantastic. Maybe you got a bad install job?

wondering what could be installed wrong, it just cuts in/out and the audio moves left/right - like bad connections

I pulled the bottom of the center console, its a mess under there but everything looks solid... the ipod cable isn't connected under there but the cable runs up past the shifter box

Did it ever work perfectly ? If not, I would start with the connection at the back of the radio first.

I doubt it is an install error and more likely a defective cable or bad connection. I am assuming you used the proper MB kit ?

it's never worked good - the previous owner had it installed - said it was ~$90 for the part alone

it looks a little different than some of the posts I've seen around here...

most i've seen have a black cable that is inline with the ipod plug - this one is white and offset

Toad you got some kind of hack, that is not MB.
I bet you don't have an IPod display in the MFD.
My guess is the pods plug was spliced in to the AUX IN to head unit.

I agree with my dude Yachmaster
Thats looks like a hack job which is suprising considering the previous owner seemed to be meticulous with his car.

I agree, he was never happy with it - but I don't think he and the service guy who installed it didn't get along so he didn't persue getting it reworked (sold it to me before he could redo it)

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
When I installed my iphone adapter, I spliced back the aux port in the glove box as my Galaxy III just sounds better vs my 4S and the iPhone adapter itself is not very fluid and the sound is horrible. I just do not feed both signals simultaneously. I now have a ipod on the iPhone adapter and use it for quick trips, but for long trips I use the aux port. If you have the iPhone adapter from MB then you can splice in an aux port.
