I now have blue tooth and it was cheap.

I read a lot of threads about going with the factory stuff route but the cost didn't seem worth it. So I picked this Jabra Journey up for $55 and with the auto off/on, voice control, and a battery that has so far lasted for about a week without a recharge I think it's a great alternative.

I have the Motorola roadster 2, and love it.. Same features as above, but also allows Bluetooth streaming through your car stereo with an fm modulator. Pretty good sound for $100...

Check out the Griffin Bluetrip. Pretty stealth.

I ran an aux wire to my ashtray and into the bluetrip. Calls come over the car's speakers. Also controls siri for iphone.

Let me see if I can find a pic of it in my car.

No phone kit or not Bluetooth? You can pick up a module @ dealer for 495 or couple hundred on ebay. I much rather have the factory one installed as it integrates into the command lowers the radio doesn't require charging controlled by the steering wheel and downloads your phonebook. I had one of these visor clips (motorola) and it was cool until I kept forgetting to charge it and it became more of a hassle than it was worth. Ended up selling it on eBay and getting a factory one.

The Journey has a longer stand by battery life and I think there was something about the microphone being better in the Journey. I also thought the Journey was cleaner looking.

I have the Motorola Roadster as well, and it seems to work just fine. FM option is spotty at best, but what do you expect when your car is a magnet for all frequencies. Battery life is almost 2 weeks for me with daily use talking and texting through it. Bought mine off ebay for $50 shipped!

Aeroman, I was about to order this product per your link....but reading up on it on Amazon, someone said it didn't work with their Mercedes? Can you confirm it worked on yours? If it did...

Thanks,

I was hoping this was the answer and I was wrong. Still no way for me to wirelessly stream my music through my car...

I have not ordered it. I wonder if it is because he has one of the bad IPOD connectors that do not charge the IPOD. If so the device would have no power sent to it. There is another device that you can add that taps power from the cable. I wonder if we put the two in series if it would work.

Here is the adapter:

Good point, I also have the charging adapter.

I think I'm going to order this one for $39.99...the
CoolStream bluetooth adapter CoolStream bluetooth adapter
.

It has a number of Mercedes reviews here.

And from their website:

Restrictions
The CoolStream Bluetooth receiver inputs an analog audio signal into the docking station. Docking stations that support only digital signal input are not supported by our device. Incompatible docking stations include Altec Lansing Mix IMT800, Bose SoundDock Portable, Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini, Logitech Pure Fi Express Plus S-00067, Philips Fidelio DS9000/DS8550/DS8530/DS8500, Sangean WR-5, Sony CMTBX20i /ICF-CL75iP /ICF-CS15iP /RDH-SK8iP /RDP-X50iP /RDP-X200iP /RDP-X500iP /XDR-S10hdiP and Yamaha Stereo Receiver with iPod Dock.
We have tested the CoolStream Bluetooth receiver with many vehicles, but far from all. Some automobiles do not support our device and these include the Acura TSX, Audi A3/A4/Q5/S4, BMW Mini Cooper, BMW 135i/328i/335d/528i/X5, Chevrolet Malibu LTZ, Infiniti all models from 2008 to present, Jeep Wrangler, Lexus RX350, Mercedes CLK550/GL550/E550, Mercedes all models from 2009 to present, Nissan all models from 2008 to present, and Volkswagon GTI. CoolStream is NOT supported by iPhone/iPod cables that plug into the car stereo USB port. CoolStream is also NOT supported by after market car cables such as iSimple Gateway, Griffin AutoPilot or Alpine KCE-433iV.

You were ahead of me. I was just reading about the coolstream. Depending on your car it may work without the adapter. I read a review by a guy with an E350 that said it works. He did say you have to repair it each time though.

Crap, that sucks. But better re-pairing it than trying to retrive my phone from the center console while driving whenever I get a phone call.

Is someone going to try this?
Wonder if the results are any different between the Becker based head units and the Alpine based head units?

Has anyone used the Aftermarket charge adapter from ebay ($12) instead of the $55 MB version?

My E63 had a phone kit installed. I just needed the BT puck and it's integrated as it should be - seamlessly.

I've always felt that bluetooth streamed music wasn't very good in quality.

I currently use my Mercedes-Benz iPhone dock which has a connector for music. The phone connects to the car via bluetooth, but charges if docked and streams music through it's iPhone connection.

I can stream music from the Pandora app and it even shows the song that is playing on the instrument cluster display.

This is pretty good considering the car is more than 9 years old.

I have since modified the dock to accept my iPhone 4. I also bought a Lightning to 30-pin adapter from Apple and my iPhone 5 works well too. It doesn't sit in the cradle as nicely, but it works; charges and music plays no problem.
