How is the Harman Kardon option compare with the stock system on W211? Worth buying??

i think its worth the money. you get more speakers, and a sub. its a 420 watt system.

The only two personal reviews I've read here both stated that the HK system was "adequate" but not great. I think the missing ingredients were power and range.

If Harman Kardon is "adequate", does that mean the stock system is "much worst"? How many speaker and how many watt does the stock has?

no matter what the reviews and reviewers say about the HK system, it's a 200% improvement over the stock stereo!! that's a fact

I have an 04 E55 on order and was not given the option of an upgraded stereo. It this the same as the CD-changer option?

No, HK is standard on the E55 so no need to choose it. I'm sure it is a large improvement over the stock radio; but its still not that great.

I have Logic 7 in my 03 car, it is indeed made by HK sounds great bass is good (to my ears) however dont expect to wake up the neigbours more finesse in this system. You can get this system in the new BMW 7 series. Just the other day whilst cleaning the boot or trunk noticed a 10" SUBWOOFER in the rear parcel shelf might look into the possability of adding another one.

The HK upgrade on my M3 sucks compared to the Bose in my SLK. Germans can engineer a car that can go 150mph but can't engineer a proper audio system.

It is a very good system. It's lacking in bass extension (lowest frequencies), but the only way you will get these frequencies in any car is with a strong aftermarket system. Logic 7 is worth the upgrade alone. The system is good enough that source differences become very obvious. As was said previous, think really high quality sound, not really loud sound.
