New to all this. What does it take to gte in the 11's?
Hello, All.
Let me start by saying I just found out about these great cars last night and spent all of the night searching and reading. I have the itch for a 4dr. that can cover the quarter in 11 seconds. Up until last night I thought a CTS V 2009 and up was really my only option although they are out of my price range. I have found several E55's under $20K close to me, one is at a local used car lot for $19K. It is a 2003 with 94,000 miles.
My question is I have read stock quarter mile times anywhere from bottom 13's to high 11's, is this traction related? Will a set of drag radials get you into the 11's? Is a supercharger pulley, exhaust and tune needed.
Thanks in advance for your input!

Wow, I'm really interested. What should I look for when buying? I know to check the service records to make sure it was properly maintained. Any problem areas I could identify? Is a 2003 with 94,000 miles for 19K reasonable?

In some cases all you need is drag radials and in other cases drag radials and a tune, but if you want to run mid 11's then you will need a crankshaft pulley and a tune or a supercharger pulley and a tune. You will also want to upgrade your cooling once you start adding pulleys.

You might also want to think about upgraded injectors and/or fuel rail once you start messing with pulleys. Especially if you go with a crank pulley equal or bigger than 180mm. Some might say it's unnessary, but you don't want risk having a lean situation and blowing the motor.

Drag radials and some good driving is all it should take to run 11s.

Thanks for all your input, I'm definitely in the market for one. I thought I had found one but the dealer is unwilling to negotiate any and wants to charge $600 more than the advertised price. Have you ever herd of a dealer charging a dealer fee of $600 over the advertised price?
