Hey guys ~

Just bought a single sport contact 3 used tire with 7/32 tread depth with

2008 manufacturing date.

However tread seems ok , but the seller did not mention about the

cracks that exhibit in the center tread area.

What shall I do? throw them away or you guys think I can put on some mile.

Some people say sport contact 3 tends to exhibit more cracking than other

performance tires.

V12's have good reviews on here, but I personally have seen too many major failures in Hankook tires to ever run one again. I'm beginning to feel the same about Bridgestone now as well after having a few start to peel apart on me on the E55.

As far as these continentals I wouldn't do anything too much above the speed limit with them. Run them for now if your tight on cash but keep your speed somewhat reasonable and save up for some new tires you can trust. I like my Michelin pilot super sports so far, but minimal miles on them for me so far.

Hey thank you for your input ~ I bought these as a back up so I am good for now. Really hard to throw away a tire with so much tread so !! Bugger!!

Yup ~!! PSS might be just too good for road cars. They come as an oem for Ferrari. When I'm done with my current set , I'm thinking Goodyear Eagle AS2

Well said. Noting more. Soft sidewall is the only problem.

I bought this for rear wheel back up tire. Just wanted to have it in my garage
just in case something happens to my rear tire. Yeah like you said Id better
keep it low or just throw them away.
Yeah ~~ V12 evo only good for a time to time spiritual driving thats all.
soft side wall with unpredictable feedback. Suddenly looses grip at some point
and you need to be ready to take your foot off the gas.

Conti do suck which is why they give one year warranty standard on all tires. 2008 date is the reason why it's cracking. Norm is not to put anything older than 4 years

Quote: I'm thinking Goodyear .
Don't do it, goodyear's are junk. I've had the v12 tires for 3 years now on my s600, never a single issue. Same set. If on a budget buy the v12's or money is not a issue, get the pilot super sports. They are the best tire. FYI tire rack and discount tire both sell road hazard warranties for $12 or so a tire. Usally well worth it. Nail in the side wall= new tire

Hey those road hazard service is def worth every penny.
But I wouldn't call Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 as JUNK. Not only these are
only made in Germany, In some areas these are even better than PSS.
Do some research. Cannot compare v12Evo to F1A2.

Your right, I've never tried the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 but there a newer unproven over time tire. What I can tell you is that just about evert other Goodyear tire I've seen or used is junk. Dry rot, noise, uneven tread wear etc.. I have no confidence in that company making a decent tire. Anyone can make a tire test well when it's new but how will they be 2 years later? You can buy them if you want, it's not my money. Don't worry, I feel the same way about Pirelli

that tire is dry rotted... most likely from sitting outside in the elements. it should be fine to drive on for a while although i personally wouldn't put it on my car.

has anyone tried the new dunlop direzza ZIIs? if they're anything like the star specs they should be really good performance tires.
