New York Guys watch the ROADS! 2 bent rims and holes in both tires!

I stopped by my mechanic today to get my control arms installed and also put in some new JBspeed brake pedals. The installs went smooth and I was telling my cousin how thankful I am for not experiencing any "accidents" for the 5+ years of ownership and I even remembered to knock on wood! My lease return on my Infiniti is up in 5 months and my sales guy called me up today with a INCREDIBLE deal on a 2013 G37xS coupe fully loaded which I had no intentions of going for but the deal was too good not to accept.

All in all day was going by GREAT until i decided to go see the girlfriend lol I got on the FDR drive... I basically fell in what might have been CAVE and I felt as if my car was about to break in half. I had the car towed to the house and when I jacked it up I saw the rims bent and holes in both tires. Im going to order some S65 replicas and some continental extreme contact DW tires but it was painful. So to you NY guys stay home until they patch these destroyed roads up!

This is LITERALLY the 2nd time the car has been outside of the garage in 1 month. I just took it out to get these control arms installed cause they've been sitting around and I had some time off today. Just really bad luck

When I lived in NY, I had beaters. I would never own a nice car due to roads and bumper bump bump issues. Anyone that lives/lived there know what I mean.
Sorry bout the wheels.

Worst of luck. Beaters are the way to go for winter time. I just had my ps axle replaced due to torn inner boot. $1200 job covered under cpo warranty

Two weeks ago while I was in FL, my wife called that she fell into the Grand Canyon. One flat, and one bent rim. End of the day, she was alright so no big deal.
Made a police report and filled out a form, I'll see if we get reimbursed?

It wasn't the AMG - Its not a DD especially in the winter.

FL is looking better and better -

Cruise control 39 miles per hour on FDR.

I've fallen into holes. I put my psi to 45 for a reason in the winter.

I hit one of those "curbs" in the middle of the highway when they were resurfacing I-4 outside of Orlando (basically an edge of asphalt that goes across the entire road), and bent all four of my wheels. I know your pain. It SUCKS.

Sorry to hear...The FDR offers no love. There are some areas that are so rough(up close to the new Bruckner exit ramp). Its a tease when you get up to speed in other areas and get caught off guard with the giant potholes (N of the 59th st bridge) or bottoming out dips (Near Houston). My DD takes it like a champ, but then again I can never get the stock wheels to balance. As for the few occasions I have been forced to bring in the CL, I drive like a granny and curse everyone. You'd think with the money the city has for everything else they could get the drainage and roads straight. Its not like the water has to go far. Then it would really be like a racetrack!!!

They probably purposely don't do that so people don't have the temptation to race.

The best part of FDR is Wall St to 14th St Exit. Perfect roads.

My E55 is my DD and I've repaired my wheels about 4 times this winter and replaced a tire at least 6 times. I just call it the New York tax.

Here's my most recent scenario.

Is this because all of you are running low profile tires?

I have often thought the same about the road conditions. However I don't agree with you think are perfect roads there are huge dips around Grand street and Houston but I guess not continuous rough roads. I prefer the tunnel like turns south of 96th st and then around 49th st. In general its a tense ride for out-of-towners and torture to a car.

Come down then! All the smart New Yorkers have been here for years already!

Just kidding, FL has all the dumb lazy NYers like us that came here for cheap property taxes and no state income tax. You're also lucky to make over 40k a year with an undergrad degree... They leave that **** out of the brochures

Sorry to hear about your car. I would go crazy being snowed in and would also have to get out and get a few mods done.

Almost entire Tri State area roads are simply destroyed! Our roads condition not only "bad", its just dangerous! I've have owned different cars, and I ride bike in upstate NY, and looking after idiots that might kill me and freaking pot holes became my second nature. I avoid NYC as a decease, but sometimes have no choice. Looks like there is very little we can do about it, since all the money collected end up god knows where. Considering moving to TX or NC ....

All of us NYCers sound scorned but I wouldnt trade it for anything in the world. I love NYC. Just drive slow in the winter or drive a beater. Everyone should know not to drive fast on the FDR, on the Belt pkwy, on Atlantic avenue, Flatlands av, Jamaica Av or on Woodhaven av in the winter. There are many other roads to add to that list all over the 5 boroughs. Where do you guys get ur rims fixed and @ what cost?

Pretty sad to see how many people go through this. My E is was out only cause I wanted to replace my control arms cause my Infiniti is my daily driver and that thing has alot of tire and it great for the winter.

Ordered the new wheels and tires and I will make sure not to take this car out after they distributed millions of pounds of salt all over our already destoryed city roads -_-

What kind of rims are on your car? Are you fixing or replacing? I had mine repaired and I'll tell you I'm fussy and it came out perfect.
