I'm running 285/30/20 with no problems on Brabus 20x10.5z. Like most guys say here it's all in the offset. I'm running a 245/30/20 up front but should have done a 255 with a 20x9.5 front. She looks a little chunky but funky but I don't mind. I may go to a 25 series on rear next time to make a better assessment but no problems with rubbing etc. and handles great.
Yes a 285/25/20 will fit perfect. However a 285/30/20 will not fit it rubs few mm inner liner.
Depends on the offset of the wheel and the particular tire since tire widths are not always equal. With that said, I prefer the 285/25 since it keeps the factory wheel & tire diameter.
I just got 9 wide 35 offset fronts and 10.5 wide 40 offset rears for my E63. I'm thinking about runnning 245/35 and 285/30 rears. Will this setup work?

I had a 285/30/20 it rubbed. So I went with 245/30/20 front & 275/30/20 rear with a 45 offset. A 285 may rub the inner liner at a 40 offset.
Do you know what offsets I can fit on a 2005 e320 CDI? I have a friend selling a genuine, staggered set of AMG wheels taken off a w212 2012 E63 AMG. Dimensions are:
