So my transmission is toast :/
So, my transmission is done for.
Does anyone know if any other Mercedes models share the same transmission other than the AMG's with the same motor as the E55?
Does the E500 have the same transmission?
I need to find one soon... It's one thing after another with this car.

Sorry to hear that. What kind of mods do you have? Did you ever do a fluid change ? These E55s have a very stout tranny. Supposed to handle up to 790 TQ, might be hard to find.

Yes, the fluid was changed when the transmission started acting up. Looked okay.. Then it started acting weird so I changed the conductor plate and the fluid got changed again along with the plug..
Then it started leaking a little bit and was acting up.
Changed the fluid again and fixed the leak.. in the process noticed a lot of metal in the pan..
not clutch material, METAL. Car moved after that, just not too well.. kept stuttering and today pulling into my driveway the transmission on my E55 completely went.

So since that one we know will blow up in 9k more miles, the 1000 it costs( minus about 450-500 value for yours as a core sale) breaks down to about a nickel a mile. That's a deal, move on it.

BTW, where can I sell my core? lol I'm either going to rebuild it or try and find somewhere to sell it.
(I think it's my TC, which I think sent small chunks of metal through the tranny)

You need a 722.643 which is used in the 55k cars. A 722.649 will also work which is used in the 65s

while for my quest for information about these cars and tuning options. I spoke to marcin(speeddriven) one of the things he told me if i was for the quest for power was to have the trans rebuilt/upgraded by him. That might be an option if your into going for power and need a solid rebuild. Not sure of the price tho. Just sharing new knowledge

Did you do an actual flush ? also noticed you said you changed fluid AFTER it started acting up. The guy that is doing my mod is planning on doing a flush as well. I think I might do a tranny cooler too. Heat kills the trans. I am really surprised yours went being stock.
No power adders at all.. Stock other than the IC pump and eBay HE.
